Make "poison" a REAL defense debuff!

While the damage malus is already relative to the poisoned victims damage output, when it comes to defences we have something entirely else: poison works like a buff for the attacker instead. Poison Damage Bonus is relative to the Damage the Attacker does.

I think it should be a real DEBUFF for the "victim" instead, which means it should:
- Be relative to the victims defence, NOT the attackers damage
- Therefore reduce damage resistance by a set percentage instead of increasing damage after the victims armor rating is already applied.
- Also reduce status effect resistances slightly.

No, not exactly: it does seem

Doesn't look like it to me: it does seem to buff the one attacking you if you're poisoned. Either that or the debuff is calculated funny.

A proper defence debuff should be proportional to the victims defence, not to the attackers offence. E.g. if it was that way around, poison would have a strong effect if the poisoned victim has high defence against the attack it is being hit by and a weaker effect if it had no defence to begin with.

Example (all numbers made up) against highly resistant victims...

25% Attack boost looks like this:
Attack: 200dmg
Defence: * 95%
= 10 dmg
Buff: *( (100% + )25% )
= 12 dmg

25% Defence malus looks like this:
Attack: 200dmg
Defence: *( 95% - 25% = 70% )
= 90 dmg

( There is no difference between the methods for victims that aren't at least somewhat resistant )

... also I think it should apply to status resistance - that would make poison a lot more interesting.

wait what ??

O_o i totally lost you ... What POISON is Supposed to do, is make the victim DEAL LESS damage, and TAKE LESS damage .. so ... is that what your complaining it does?

@Diamondshreddie:

The victim of poison has:

1/3 Attack power,
Takes 10% more damage (Monsters only, I believe),
Cannot heal (Monsters take damage when healing).

What I don't like is, that

What I don't like is, that the "10% more damage" is added to the final damage the attacker does (like a buff for the attacker) instead of being subtracted from the defense of the defender (like a defese debuff).

Maybe this will help: "poison sucks even more than usual if you're attacking something with the wrong weapon. But that should be one of its strong points. Because it's supposed to lower defences. But it doesn't. It practically increases (the opponents) attack instead"

Don't know how to make that any clearer, someone who's better at explaining stuff in english help me please! xD

Also -still - I find it disappointing that the malus does not apply to status effect resistance at all (which is the most important kind of defense in many places).

I can't remember what weapon

I can't remember what weapon I was attacking with or what I was attacking...but I do remember doing 150, then when the target was poisoned I was doing 153... :|
