I love my polarise
1. awsome in ld
2. awsome in pve
3. i love readin all the polarise haters after a great ld games
4.Shock :D
5. Awsome push back and if u have lag like me can save ur life
But most people dont like it since the push back can push enemys to ur party members (can easily be avoided if you know how to use it)
Polaris is really good. Shocks enemies plus affects more if they are all piled up. Big explosioin and again if enemies are piled up you can shoot them down and they can't really move.
Works awesome against gun puppies "especially" rocket puppies.
One of the best guns to use in Lockdown as well.
Polaris is good in lockdown, but it's not as useful in PvE.
The DPS is pretty bad unless you know how to use it, which isn't easy, and of course the DPS is good when you're shootin' turrets.
And I won't even mention that teams will hate you if you choose this gun.
I'd go ahead and go for a AP, it's very useful in FSC, has much better DPS then Polaris, and it is super easy to use.
Opinion: Go for Polaris ONLY if you're going to be doing PvP most of the time; AP is better for a swordsman like you.
+1 to what Rangerwillx said.
Since the patch that changed AP to full elemental, AP is the side-arm of choice for swordies in PvE, because of it's awesome mobility, good dps and ease of use.
The polaris is better pretty much only for turrets. The rest of the time, the knockback is going to be a hindrance for your teamates and your own dps.
In PvP the choice is pretty much : AP to interrupt charges vs Polaris to deny an area. Or get both.
The Firotech Alchemer, which upgrades to the Magma Driver, is the best, IMO. Fire deals constant damage unlike freeze, which only deals damage if no-one attacks, and pretty much everyone does. Shock really doesn't save your skin that much, and poison's rather weak. Fire also has a damage bonus against constructs like gun puppies and lumbers.
Oh, covering alchemers, while Daedalusofathens is pretty much right comparing status (well, except that poison alchemer doesn't exist and fire doesn't have a bonus damage against constructs, only the alchemer itself does).
But the main problem is when you compare Alchemers with other elemental guns :
- Polaris wins hands down against turrets, as you can have expanded shots all the way, which also interrupts easily turrets shots.
- for the rest AP is, in my eyes, better : it's easier to aim (faster bullets), it has more mobility (more bullets per clip = less reload = more mobility) and even the dps is better provided you won't get multiple bounce in (if you do, you are probably a gunner, and then it's another story).
So unless you don't have enough tokens (which doesn't seem to be the OP case) and want an elemental gun now, I wouldn't advise an alchemer.
I am a swordsman and I run AP for general clockworks work. I get a bit OCD about breaking things & the Antigua line is the best for this along with being great for DPS & for being able to shield in easily while firing. When I run arenas I tend to take my Polaris though for the turret wave in the third fight. Unless it is a Beast or Slime arena in which case I take my Sentenza. Also, I find the Polaris more useful for fiends, both the jumpy kind and the turrets. The AP is also good for shooting flying Howlitzer skulls, but I find the expanded Polaris shots to work better.
I can't comment personally on Alchemers as I have not used them past 3*. I was about to make Nova & Umbra Drivers when I saw the AP/Sentenza update coming so I held off. I can't see how a 2 shot Alchemer could come anywhere near the DPS of a 6 shot Antigua line (especially for doing no reload shooting). That said, Alchemers become somewhat magically with CTR in the hands of a skilled Gunner that can really work the angles.
They all have there place, but if I could only have one of them it would be the AP.
There's no fiend turret, howlizter is undead. But the same concept applies.
Alchemers out-dps ap/sent, if one bothers to take the time to learn and master them. Rawrcake did the damage tests. The main difference between the two line is ease of use. To achieve max damage with antigua line, point at the enemy or between 2, and shoot. Nothing difficult. With alchemers, each shot has to be aimed properly, otherwise it falls far behind in damage. If done right, ricochets aids you in doing more damage than antiguas
I'm a Gunner, so my opinion might not be as accurate as a 5* Swordie's, but IMO, Argent Peacemaker is a good sidearm for Swordies. It's Elemental, so it's good against 2 Turres, and Neutral against 1.
...why is this guy necroing a bunch of threads that have already been answered?
e.e
My advise is to get an Hail Driver, for soloing most stuff PVE for me i think it works just perfect, and if you get a kinda nice UV on it ill be worth your crowns for sure mate!
Well i've one and without gunner damage bonus and all it can do like +1000dmg on a charge bullet so think on it :D
Polaris. Because it... uh... shoots explodey bullets.
