Armor/Weapons for a noob Recon in LD. HELP!

Hbaum

This is my normal gear for being a Recon in LD.
Helm - Arcane Salamander Mask
Armor - Arcane Salamander Suit/Divine Mantle
Sword - Combuster/5* Warhammer
Bomb - 5* Briar/ Dark Retribution
Gun - Volcanic Pepperbox/ 4* Shadow Driver

Ok so i'm open to any ideas, i have no idea what's the best for a recon or LD in general though i've been seeing quite a few Skolvers and Snarby stuff. I'm just wondering what i should get and what i should keep (Obviously most of this stuff is inadequate). I'm open to any ideas and/or criticism. Thanks!!!

._. You should get new equipment.

The best things you have at the moment for Lockdown are the Combuster and Shadow Driver, I dont think youre a gunner so Shadow Driver is out of the picture and Combuster isnt really bad but its not as good as Glacius/Voltedge since some people have fire resist UV's and Vog Cub, so the charge on a Combuster wouldnt do much status affect. So first thing i would do is get better armor like Skolver or Vog Cub. The Skolver set grants a very high damage bonus while Vog Cub set grants attack speed increased very high. Its your choice to pick one of the two, or become a hybrid and have them mixed.

(Use weapon slots and trinket slots for extra hp, they help a lot.) I think you should get a piercing weapon first since they are fast and do a decent amount of damage, so either a Barbarous Thorn Blade or a Final Flourish. (They both have the same speed and damage just the charge is different.) For your second weapon I would suggest a Gran Faust, as a recon when you pop up out of no where and smack people with this thing it does two times the damage as it would if you were seen or detected by a person (Sneak up on people and wack them.) Gran Faust deals shadow damage and normal. Third weapon should be a Glacius/Voltedge OR keep your Combuster and save crowns. Glacius, Voltedge, and Combuster are mainly used in Lockdown only because of their charge. Glacius freezes enemies with its charge but Skolver resists freeze and there are many Skolvers. Voltedge is probably the best of the three since shock status is super annoying and it gives you time to hit your enemy more. Combuster is just a meh.

Hope this info helps you a bit.

stuff from a habitual recon

People like Skolver/snarb because it boosts their sword attack.
People like Skolver for its piercing defence (since the faster swords to use are the poking swords).

That said, as recon, you probably wanna think more about your offense than defense, since you have so much health to start off with, meaning heart trinkets are less useful for Recon.
Recon is both resilient and vulnerable - you have the health to take some hits, but if you get hit out of your cloak, you're probably screwed since it takes a while to regen and strikers will probably eat you if you don't have cloak.

Armors that boost your weapons are preferred (Vog, Skolver, Justifier, Shadowsun, Bombastic/Mad Bomber for bomb damage).
------
As far as I've seen, MOST Recon play tends to be either:
- Capture-based bombing (mist-type bombs, sun shards) - all level 10 bombs have max CTR by default for recon, so damage is the way to go. Sun shards are an offensive bomb, mist type bombs are defensive.
- Sword-based Assassination (high damage/speed swords + cloak stabbing, or high damage + heavy sword)
- GFL Guns (Valiance, status guns, and probably sword for backup - uses deathmarks heavily).

Recon isn't a very starter-friendly class since you'll probably end up getting hit out of your cloak and being eaten by the wolves more often than not - if you wanna keep your cloak, you need to have a good feel for how people (especially strikers) move around.

The interesting thing about recon is the deathmark - by nullifying people's defenses, you don't have to worry as much about whether or not you have the right element weapon to take people down. For example, almost every armor has Normal defense, but if someone is deathmarked, even a Sudaruska's normal attack is painful. This is especially important for gunners because of one thing: Valiance.

If you are a recon gunner (god have mercy on your soul), Valiance's knockback becomes heroic in interrupting striker movement, and more importantly, with deathmark, it becomes the most powerful gun in the world.

Tips to become a pro recon :DD

Here's another tip for you since you are a recon, it is to move in one direction, cloak, and head in the other direction. About 90% of the time, an enemy will aim in the direction you were heading last. While they are trying to uncloak you, just come in behind and strike.

Recon = bomber love.

Bombastic Demo. And RSS. Then you're set. Voltaic Tempest helps slow down your opponents and reveals other recons. Then shard them to death. With any heated level 10 bomb, you'll have max CTR and VH damage. And you can walk through ice.

I'm only 2-3* in LD, but...

Crystal bomb line.
Full demo set.
Fiery vapouriser line for two weapon slots (I would use shock more, though, if I had one).

If I had four weapon slots:
Blast bomb line weapon.
Crystal bomb line.
Fiery/Shock status bomb.
Antigua line for people who can dodge the Crystal Bomb - for 5*, I'd use Sentenza, because hardly anyone uses Shadow defence - or an Alchemer for the spammable charge, Pulsar line for running away, etc.
Full demo set - I'd say, pack one with CTR med in total, and another benefit (almost like Mercurial Demo, but with CTR instead? Too much to hope for.) Could use trinkets to make up CTR bonus, and use a better armour (Mercurial Set? SPEED!) Try to get shock/freeze resists - possibly use trinkets?
Fully heat all bombs.

Total benefits?
Bomb CTR Max.
Gun damage med (Query? I don't know the exact value)
Gun CTR med.
(Extra added benefit)
One DPS, one status, one sheer annoyance bomb. Possibly 2 DPS bombs - what do you count the Crystal Bomb as?
Elemental defence - consider use of trinkets for defence, or just for (up to) +12 bars extra health, or for status (see below).
(Shock and/or freeze resists, so you can walk through status traps.)

Notice, this is only my opinion, but the use of a Mercurial set with Strikers could lead to some assumptions about hacking.

Woah woah woah...

Remember: The Recon Cloak gives a global Charge Time Reduction Medium, in addition to a bomb specific Charge Time Reduction Medium, that combines to a Charge Time Reduction Very High. Then, a fully heated bomb gets its own Charge Time Reduction Medium, giving you a total of Charge Time Reduction Maximum! No additional equipment is needed! If you're going to use bombs, I suggest a status bomb above all else. It will help you shut down points. Use a Status bomb in place of a Polaris when you need to clog up choke points. A Voltaic Tempest is a far more effective block than a Polaris, but other classes lack the ability to easily use bombs (Guardians get a weak bonus, while Strikers get a massive debuff).

I personally use a combination of all 3 weapon types. I got a FF for quick strikes, a DA in case my opponent it staying still/easy to hit, a VT to shut down points, and a Sentenza for random shots.

If you're going to stick with the Brandish, focus on Charge Shot spam. Glacius and Voltedge are better because they immobilize enemies, but Combuster can also work.

Don't use Autoguns. You can't afford to loose mobility. Standing still = death.

Also, keep in mind that recon

Also, keep in mind that recon gives you a nerf to your sword speed. So if you're going to use a sword, stick to a fast one. I try using faust on occasion, and almost always regret it!

@Traevelliath: yes, status bombs are good, but a good gunner will hose you. They'll see the haze, and just shoot you. That's why it is a good idea to also pack a damage bomb. RSS is best choice for this. But a Nitro wouldn't hurt, it also knocks around your enemy, though it does a lot less damage (I think).

I only thought it gave blanket CTR...

OK, in which case, put on any old armour. Preferably Piercing defence, as you'll die a LOT to toothpickers, or, in T3, use armour which gives only bomb damage increase - Mercurial Demo, anyone?
