paid accounts: how energy should be kept seperate and can not affect other non-paying accounts

(edited up the first post to recap what was said later)

the common situation is this, due to 1 computer, different play times, or something like my wierd internet set-up, energy is shared between two accounts, to prevent a single person from using several accounts

the original idea was to have a 2 account cap per ip, but thats still at least a bit exploitable

a new idea, that while paying some $5+, your energy tab will be kept 100% entirely seperate from the computers limit for another free player, this means that there is no exploit for non-paying players, and for people who payed the $5+, can only exploit with 2 accounts,
this will give a paying incentive, and provide a fix to people who have to use multiple accounts on one computer (or other wierd coincidence in the energy giving system), while only exposing a minor exploit to people who already had to pay

otherwise, if i recall the current system correctly, every person who uses the same computer or other wierd setup will have to pay that limit to get a account that can affect free-accounts energy, but not paying accounts, for 2 people, this means $10 just to fix that problem

whatdoyousay?

edit:post 2-6 are based off the original idea stated earlier

Simple enough.

You basically answered your own question.

i know this is obviously to prevent people from making multiple accounts on one computer.

but a temporary fix could be to set a energy cap of 2 accounts instead of 1.
Still very much exploitable, I'm afraid.

Simple enough, either get another computer for your bro, or I'm afraid you'll have to deal with the energy sharing.

Exploitable

I have an idea: share the same character.

You would still use the same energy but there would be no division of resources and you two would have to work together to build it. Unless you hate your brother like I do because he tries to steal your sandwich when you turn around so you almost cut his worthless fingers off with a kitchen knife.

You could also either alternate which day you two use energy; you use it one day, he uses it the next, you use it the third day, and so on, or only use 50E each a day. If neither of you have gotten far then sharing a single knight would be the best option. What would he do, steal the energy you both have to share?

but, thats the problem we use

but, thats the problem we use seperate computers, i feel it keeps both the same though because they are both going out the same ip+double router,

"all through the house"

probably not going to do so, but would making one go directly through the first router for a unique static fix the problem

Paid accounts get separate

Paid accounts get separate mist bars, so even if you get the lowest option just once, it marks you as a paid account.

ok, i changed up the topic to

ok, i changed up the topic to be more... suggestive, basing it on serell where it should be that paying accounts cant affect non-paying accounts and vice-versa

the problem is, its either a paying 2 account exploit, or both will have to stop each others accounts from stealing energy

either way, this is a for-profit free to play game, the chances of anyone being cool and shrugging off a 2 account exploit FOR A PAYING PERSON is very slim, shame on sega if they prove me right

What did you do

You were supposed to have the edit below the original post content so the context stays the same. Now anyone who comes into this thread without having read the original version of the original post will be confused.

The only "subscription" part of this game is the elevator pass; all other purchases are permanent. The expansion pack is permanent and CE packs are self explanatory. Paying five bucks to have an isolated mist tank permanently would be too easily exploited; it would have to be monthly and more expensive. This is having two separate mist tanks available to anyone who wants to have two accounts at once.

Unless you want to do all the engineering for this for no pay I recommend previously given advice.

QUICK, GET THE FINGERPRINT

QUICK, GET THE FINGERPRINT SCANNERS, YES
i think the only way for any of this to work under "standards" (makes me want to run a different version of spiral knights)
would be trade restrictions, and since thats a bad thing, there seem to be hundreds of blocks to getting the initial idea working,

...

Regardless of how you look at it, it's still exploitable.
There's a reason why they block it based off IP.

there seem to be hundreds of blocks to getting the initial idea working.
Again, this has been taken into account so that 'powerlevelling' characters and using alts to farm more cr is avoided altogether.

That being said, just share the darn account. Wouldn't hurt unless there is virtually no way to get around sibling rivalry.
Also, please don't use a VPN to change your IP. That's a bannable offence on most MMORPGs (if I'm not mistaken).

I am so confused by this

I am so confused by this thread, so I'm just going to state what I know about account sharing and hope that solves whatever the topic happens to be.

You create account A and B. You pay for somehting on account A. Now both account A and B have seperate mist regeneration and usage.

so it turns out this is already implemented

hey, i finally found what i was looking for, through a support ticket

it leads to a different suggestion, the fact that it took THIS long to find the information i was going for, ill be happily spending 3 dollers to seperate me and my brothers accounts

so now i feel there should be better warning about this, perhaps a in-game message that pops up talking about energy when your account has had energy stolen from another

in the form of mail, will give the general about it and then link to this page
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Energy_FAQ#Sharing_Scenarios
it would be very helpful for me and others who are saying, wtf, a second account stole my energy

Well then something ain't

Well then something ain't right for me. I have paid but I still must use a different computer than my bro or I will use his energy. I might have to ask support.

does it follow like

does it follow like this

remember that if a third account is anywhere in your computer or wierd network than it can steal from the free account

"This is the scenario that allows two people to share a computer and not worry about sharing Mist Energy. Account A and Account B can play on the same computer indefinitely and never share Mist Energy. However, if Account C is introduced to the same computer it will share Mist Energy with Account B only."

I am account A. I have paid.

I am account A. I have paid. My brother is account B. He has not paid. There is no account C. I believe we shouldn't be sharing mist if what Hex has said is true.

RE:

@Calebokairo
That's correct. Two free accounts on the same IP (or computer or whatever) will share mist. However paid accounts are completely excluded from this restriction so you may have as many paid accounts as you like plus one free account.

@Serell
If you are certain you have paid then there must have been an error with the transaction. (or have you changed accounts since then?)
If you use steam there could have been an issue. Have you made multiple transactions (to make sure) or just the one?

@Serell:

Just checking here...and I didn't really read through the comments...

You say you paid on one account, and don't get a separate mist bar?

Emphasis on account. Your "knights" on a single account still don't get separate mist bars. Only separate accounts I believe.

We have completely separate accounts. We do not use 1 log in to access 2 knights.

@Serell

There have been issues with payments not being recognised in the past. Request assitance from a GM, I'm sure if there is something wrong with what you've done, they'll be able to track it. (provided the transaction was not more than 12 months ago)
