Because one of each just doesn't cut it.

Whatever for monster family

Whatever for monster family badges.

No for rank badges. They are meant to be acquired only when you reach certain rank, it would be silly if apprentices would run around in have with vanguard badges.

I see no reason to not put them in, a simple check of knight's rank would suffice. And buying them would bind then on acquiring, of course.

Eh

I would say if they have already unlocked the badge for them self, then maybe they could unlock it in Vatels shop.
Don't want newbies running around with Vanguard badge.
It would be nice if we could buy the badges if we put them on something and then find out we don't like it later and want it on something else.

I wouldn't mind being able to

I wouldn't mind being able to buy extra Vanguard or other rank badges from the Hall of Heroes though, you'd just have to add a vendor to the last HoH for the Vanguard badge.

Badge vendor at exit elevator in HOH

How about that?
(all bind on purchase. And of course, you must unlock that tier to be able to buy because of the blocking gate.)

Post x2: With that in mind: BRING BOOST BACK!

Um..

Well, unless putting these purchased badges on an armour made it "perma-bound" I could see being able to get even more rank badges becoming a problem.

Just because an accessory comes bound, what would stop a player from buying a bunch, putting them on cheap armours, and then unbinding them (or putting them on unbound armours) and putting those up for sale?

Even with the enemy type ones.

Yeah it might be nice to be able to put the badges on more than one thing, but that would make things so complicated, and make the entire point of them being a reward everyone can get once... well... entirely gone.

Yeah, totally forgot about that.

And you reminded me that I have two armors with Proto Crests on them. ._.

Where did you read that the

Where did you read that the badges selling point is that you can get them only one once? The badges are to show rank, why should I be able to show my rank on only one piece of armor when I have multiple sets? Oh right, because you said that the entire point of badges is that they are one-time reward. I really can't make any sense out of it. And anyway, by the time someone could afford an armor piece with such a badge, they should be that rank anyway (like, if they costed as much as modifiers and recolours).

I think Verodius is on the

I think Verodius is on the money more than anyone in suggesting they be a HoH thing, bought and paid for, but not limited by supply. They can't be traded, they can't be sold, they're an indication of our prestige; so why can't we have more of them if we want them? It's a Cr sink, it's a progression incentive, and it slightly increases customisation. I'm all for it.

I didn't read somewhere that

I didn't read somewhere that it's documented that they're a one-time reward.

They ARE a one time reward, being mission rewards.

If they were intended to be equipped on any all all armour that we wanted, they probably would be available more.

While we're at it, once you've earned the low star UV'd weapons from the first missions, you should be able to buy spares - same goes for the OCH mission weapons. Because you've already earned it, so why shouldn't you be able to get as many copies of the mission rewards as long as you pay enough crowns?

@toastnaut Cant tell if your being sarcastic or not but if so; why would you want another weapon that's exactly the same as the one you earned? With the badges it's different because you can put the on different armors but there's no poin in carrying around two asi heavy hatchets. Also the badges have no functionality.

I like the idea of having the ability to purchase more Badges once you've earned one but there should be some kind of distinction in the description or name of the equipped badge like "replica" cobalt crest.

Apologies, Oat

That indeed was sarcasm.

I sometimes default to cynical mode when I play the devil's advocate and am met with aggression for pointing out glaring holes in a (bad) suggestion.

Crud, I'm doing it again. >.<
Sometimes I can't help it.

In all seriousness, developers intent unknown, having the badges that are currently one-per-knight each purchaseable again for anyone with the crowns and progress in the missions does kind of ruin the specialness of having earned something. Even if it was easy to get for all of the endgame players who complted the missions in a few days, no doubt these things are milestones for players who actually had to work for them (and I can say I've seen more new/mid-game players proudly wearing them than endgame players for whom they were honestly a freebie reward.)

Even discounting the potential problem with having a market flooded with items with badges installed for anyone to purchase, even if they are made ridiculously expensive to purchase, the ultra-rich players have enough things that can be bought to flaunt their wealth.
Prismatic accessories, wings, pocket-snack-monsters, et al. should be enough. Lets not take away one of the few things that all players have equal opportunity to get to turn it into yet another way to display wealth.

(For the record, I am not against making purchaseable costume-only badges that are somehow different from the normal ones - though I don't see much point in having them, at least they wouldn't detract from the reward ones.)

You are yet to point any hole in this supposedly bad suggestion. All that you pointed out is your own obsession in some virtual worth which doesn't exist.

Earned badges cannot be

Earned badges cannot be traded or sold, so your market-flooding scenario is pure nonsense. I don't think anyone's talking about changing that. And I don't think anyone's talking about making all badges buyable by all players; this'd be a way to buy extras of badges you have earned for different armours. I've got all the rank badges and I've resisted installing any of them, because I know I can't get a replacement if I get sick of it, or if I end up retiring the armour I've pinned it on. This fixes that.

He was mentioning the problem with the fact that they can be traded indirectly.

Currently the only way to get

Currently the only way to get a second badge of that rank on your shiny, 5* armor is to pay 3500CE to unbind the piece of armor and then hope the person from whom you are buying isn't a scammer. Sure, one could just craft again as costume piece but would you really craft another Shadow Lairs armor set for a badge that basically isn't worth more than a silver key costs? That's my estimation as the Azure Guardian Crests that are on the Auction House were at around the 25k CR mark and I think, even then they weren't selling.

@Paweu

That's why you attach your badges when they're still 2*.
I do agree that additional badges should be purchaseable but I really don't want to see a bazillion pieces of armor on the AH with accessories attached.
(Person crafts armor, and then buys a high rank badge and attaches it to it then sells it on AH to raise the price of it.)

When the missions were rolled

When the missions were rolled out I've had multiple 5* armor pieces, the only one that I crafted ever since doesn't have a front armor slot.
