Game takes long time to launch

For some reason, the game takes a really long time to launch, the most recent time around 5 minutes. This only started happening this week, after I've been playing the game for months, and it doesn't happen every time. I'm playing through Steam on the mid-2010 Macbook with 4 GB RAM (instead of the standard 2 GB).

If you need any other info let me know. Thanks.

Sounds to me like fragmentation or something eating up your system resources.

Nah, I have all other programs closed, and I don't think it's fragmentation (I forget how to check definitively though).

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but it hasn't done anything. And I'd like to emphasize that it happens intermittently.
