Hi guys, Nubskills here. I remember seeing some discussion about vanaduke shield fireballs and whether they block Needle Autogun-type bullets. I noticed that they do seem to block the bullets, so I capped a few screenshots as shown here:

As you can see, the bullets can shatter on the fireballs, so if there's nothing much else to do on depth 28, feel free to water him down :P

wait, I thought we already knew?

I've played the Vanaduke fight quite a few times, his fireballs and shadowfire tiles on the floor block DA holoblades, RSS shards, AP shots, Blitz shots, etc.

Thanks, I was saying the contrary without being too sure. To be certain, it would be a good idea to record a run and count how many damage numbers show up for a charge (if that's reliable).

But hey, if you water the fireballs, you may as well save yourself the trouble of using Autogun and use swords.

Really? Aww, i thought DA holoblades would work. I'm not sure if it blocks BTB projectiles, the amount of damage numbers seemed prtty consistent last time I tried. I think it still hits with the spikes.
@Fradow
Yeah, there definitely were a few less damage numbers if I aim at the fireballs. Lol yeah, without shiver, you could always spam toothpicks if you water

It does block BTB projectiles. You're still seeing damage numbers because the BTB spews out thorns in a shotgun-like spread, thus you're going to hit him because he simply can't block all the spikes with at most only 8 fireballs at his disposal.

Ah ok, I'll do some testing with that next time, I'll try to aim at two fireballs intersecting like with the Strike Needle test here. Hmm, maybe I should try and get a few vana shots in as well....just for fun lol

troika shockwaves (light pulses, whatever) can hit hit indepednently of fireballs or not, i think. all the rest might get blocked if it hits one

That's not because they aren't blocked by the fireballs, it's because the attack has AoE and the resulting explosion can hit him as long as it's blocked by the inner fireballs (outer ones are too far away). Same with Pulsar.

I remember a thread by Tsu about how Troika charge can hit past the fireballs. Apparently, DA charge blades work too. The charge of the BTB swing can hit past fireballs, I tried it last time. Yep, Brandish explosions should do the trick, since they're not projectiles.
