New Bomb Idea--Turret Destroyer

Wasn't sure whether to put this in suggestions or arsenal. But i'm gonna give priority to it being a weapon discussion and put it here.

I think a nice addition to the bombers arsenal would be a turret destroying bomb. It would one-shot turrets/polyps/howlitzers. It would go a long ways to making solo bombing more viable, as well as make a bomb(er) really handy in a party. Most bombs just become a slower way to kill mobs in 4 person parties. The vortex are the only bomb that can really expedite the killing of mobs in parties. Shock/fire/poison can be nice, but in a party of strong players it just makes fights take longer than they would to pull out a sword and DPS. Blast bombs just kinda suck most the time for parties. Dark Retribution's only place is versus Royal Jelly aka Jelly King. Therefore, dedicating 1 of your precious weapon slots to a bomb just for turrets and had a function in solo or party play would be nice.

Before demands for a move pour in.......

It would need a small blast area or it might OP.

Or perhaps it could do multiple blasts with knockback so that it would kill stationary objects but only damage mobile enemies with one blast.

What I say...

An "Aim-able" bomb; fires one, lightning fast laser after detonation. The laser can only hit one target, and goes about the distance of a sunshard.

On Impact with a target, the laser stops and causes 10 very small radius, High KB and Interrupt, pure Elemental explosions.

A lumbar would be knocked away after 2 of them, and the 5* bomb would have the explosion radius of a proto bomb.

I think that would work quite well.

SUUUDAAAAAAAAAARUUUUSSKAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess i didn't quite explain as clearly as i meant to. My idea would be that it only damaged turret style mobs. Furthermore, in my head i imagined it would only hit the turret it was closest to, thus being able to kill 1 turret at a time.

@Juances, in a party of 4 radiant sunshards does not kill a t3 turret/howlitzer in 1 hit, no matter how perfect the placement. ANd it certainly is not very effective against polyps.

Eh, I'd rather use RSS over an overly situational weapon that has no application outside of turret-sniping. Making RSS pure elemental with essentially accomplish the same end-goal, whilst simulatenously being a generally all-around useful bomb.

It doesn't need to since shards interrupt their attacks, with appropriate timing and positioning you can completely shut down multiple Gun Puppies and Howlitzers using RSS. It's ineffective against Polyps, but if the bomb was made pure elemental I suspect the damage increase would put it into over their flinching threshold as well.

I'll feed off Tsu's idea:

"Bomb" lauches a rocket. Rockets are already in game and inflict elemental damage. The difficulty in adding a homing weapon is that skill should play into the targetting mechanics. Rockets or the laser must somehow be player controlled. Controlling a projectile after launch is not quite within the game's mechanics.

Also, the "cluster bomb", stolen from the gremlin demo's bomber mecha knights, could also be very effective against stationery targets.

How about some Irontech Bomb?

How about a redo for the Irontech branch. Radius, fuse, and knock-back about the same as a Proto Bomb's. Pure Elemental Damage about the same as the combined Damage of all eight of Radiant Sun Shards' shards.

hmm

Not to totally derail things, but in line with the engineer class featured in a lot of other games, what about an actual deployable turret? We already have laser turrets (granted they're rare with the exception of OCH), we have a persistent-dmg bomb with the DR, what about being able to pop a turret behind a gun puppy and let the two duke it out? There are a lot of considerations to work out (i.e., limiting duration of deployment/max range/ammo/etc.) to keep them from being OP, but man, it would be fun ^^

Perhaps some kind of small but strong sticky bomb that you would tag the monsters with. Parts of this idea already exist - getting a zombie to walk over RSS as it explodes and Biohazard tag orbs come to mind . A bomb that has a goal of being small rather than large.. running about with a charged Leviathan is kinda like a bomb in it self so why not?
