Supply Packs should be gifts for other knights

Sure, supply packs are crown sinks, that's fine.

But what if in addition to that, the moment someone turns in a supply pack, a random player currently in the clockworks gets a little package that floats down from the sky, like a care package from Haven. Hitting it explodes into random clockworks items, such as health vials, remedy capsules, and status vials. I don't think it should drop crowns or heat, as that is not temporary for the clockworks.

This keeps the mission a crown sink, but makes it fun for those currently adventuring. The more people who are on doing it, the more people who are adventuring will benefit, and it never benefits you directly, so you aren't paying to win (I guess you could get on an alt and spam supply packs, but it's random and there are enough players on).

That leads into the other part of the idea, which is allowing you to do this mission whenever you want, not just for daily prestige. This could be set up as an item you buy from Vatel, and activate in your inventory. To curb possible exploits, you can only activate 5 per hour, 10 per day. If you aren't doing a prestige mission, maybe each one can be worth a meager 5 prestige. Poor players won't do this. Rich ones will. No one loses, everyone wins, and the game still has a crown sink.

To top it off, the player who bought the supply pack would get a system message telling them who found their package. All in fun!

This creates more social activity, no one can exploit it, clockworks players will appreciate it, and it'll be a constant crown sink. Is there something bad about this idea that I'm missing? (and sorry if this idea was suggested, I did a search and didn't see it)

Huh...

Seems kind of cool. I don't think I see too much wrong with the idea, since you've put a cap on the amount of prestige you can get from it and it's completely optional. Personally I'd like to see this as an incentive to do Arcade runs though, meaning supply packs would only drop to people in gates. Thoughts?

Yeah, that was my intent, that they only drop in the arcade, not ranked missions.

Marvelous

Now all we need is a bit of concept art to illustrate how exactly this idea would work. That and other people's opinions, of course.

Neat idea

I think it is in need of some more fleshing out, in terms of how it would work, but I like the general idea here too.

It would certainly detract from the "stuff turned in to spiral HQ for missions just vanishes" feeling that comes with chasing prestige. It also adds a tiny, entertaining benefit in normal arcade runs. :)

I drew something.

Could be another icon on the package. A gear, a wrench, a happy face ^ . ^

There are currently 3 packages you can buy, so that could dictate the contents. It doesn't seem too important what the exact contents are to the buyer, since they don't get the benefits anyway, but knowing the most expensive one is the only one that contains vitapods might be neat. Or, the 3 packages = the 3 tiers.

For the player in the clockworks, just seeing a package float down with a chat message that says "Supplies from user: Gell" can be fun. There's that +12 vitapod I was hoping for!

nice!

it looks like a fun idea, that would definitively make it more to randomly see something like that. it would also make us feel like there's an actual spiral knights organization backing us up.

Great idea and art!

Maybe the different levels of supply pack would constitute what is in it based on the needs of the party.

For example, if everybody in the party was low on health, then the ideal supply from the pack would be health, right? So what if the pack level determined the percent chance of the party getting what they might desperately need. The higher the level, the better the items. The lower the level, then maybe the items would be stuff they wouldn't need immediately, but could help in the long run (like fire vials in a level with a &*%#load of Oilers)

Another idea I just got while writing this is what if the packs contained temporary gear that would only last through the run. Maybe an automatically equipping trinket (regardless of whether trinket slots are unlocked) or something like that.
