Bomb Suggestion: "Bound Bomb"

Oatmonster here with another bomb suggestion, this time with the "Bound Bomb". What will hopefully be the Sealed Sword of bombs.

Mechanics
The bomb would have a standard blast radius, a mist bomb's charge time, and a fuse and walk speed slightly slower than a nitronome.
Damage and Path

The bomb would do slightly more dmg (5%?) than the blast bomb of that star rating to neutral targets.

  • 3* Bound Bomb - Normal damage with a chance (lower than the SS charge) to cause a random status.
  • 4* The Prophet - Elemental damage, moderate chance for moderate stun.
  • 5* Argus - Elemental damage, moderate chance for moderate stun.
  • 4* Chaos Burst - Shadow damage, slight chance for very weak curse (7 sec on 1 wep w/o resistance).
  • 5* Anarchy Barrage - Shadow damage, slight chance for very weak curse (7 sec on 1 wep w/o resistance).

As it stands (at 5*), the bomb would deal 213 damage to neutral targets for a single target DPS of 71.05 with it's 3 second charge time.

If it was REALLY like the SS line... theyd do that 10% more damage to Neutrals, AND have faster walk speed, Shorter fuse, Shorter Charge Time, and a Larger radius.

I dont think that would be so great, IMO

Standard blast radius is four spaces from the epicenter. Vaporizer charge is three seconds at max buffs (+6). Slower than Nitronome means Irontech movement speed.

Okay, it does 5% more damage; calculate that. It also does statuses? Lower it by 15% now. The element line inflicts 3/4 (moderate chance for strong) stun? Keep its damage at 90% for now. The shadow line has curse at a 1/1 rate (slight chance of weak)? Lower its damage by 5%. It has Irontech speed? Increase everything by 5% now. Charge time is one second longer? Shut up, it does statuses. You now have the element line at 95% and the shadow line at 90% of Nitronome. Go back and check the statuses; Stagger Storm only has a 4/2 (strong chance of minor) stun but this thing has 3/4? Lower the stun degree to minor (2) or moderate (3). The curse bomb is fine but its radius needs to be reduced due to the curse; cut its range down to three.

Ok I've taken another look at your thread's DMG values. I'm attempting to do some calculations and I hope I'm doing it right.

Why not to reduce radius
Nitro DPH is 203, at a 5% bonus that should be 213.15 DMG per hit. With a 3 sec charge that would be 71.05 DPS. that would be a potential DPS of 923.65 according to your number of 13 targets at max radius. This compared to the Nitro's potential of 1319.5, even with status is rather puny (not to mention the lower walk speed).

Ok I understand some points about the stun but my bomb does not re-apply status once a second for 6 seconds like mist bombs do. At most I would lower the strength down to 3/3 but I still think that's a bit much.

Currently, the bomb has 70% the potential dps of the nitro with lower walk speed not factored in and I think that is more than a fair trade for the status inflictions.

Also forgot to mention it but KB is the same as the Nitro which would warrant higher DPS.

Edit: More Math, this time with comparisons with the DA and GF, and the Sudaruska.

To start off with, let's compare the GF and the Sudaruska.(all damage figures are on neutral targets)
Both the Sudaruska and the GF have a fair chance to cause status but the GF causes a strong status, whereas the Suda causes moderate status, not to mention the fact that the GF inflicts Curse which is considered the most powerful status in the game. Both of these weapons also only inflict status on their second swing (not including charge).
Next, raw DPC (damage per combo (this would be analagous to the DPH of bombs)). If you add up the damage values of the first and second swings, you get a DPC of 579 for the Suda nad 597 for the GF. this is approximatly a 3% increase in DPC.
The GF also has a faster swing rate. This coupled with it's higher base damage leads to an actual increase in DPS and a stronger status.

Now my bomb, which would do more DPH but have a lower DPS, seems pretty fair comapred to this, don't you think?

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I also belive the Irontech walk speed isn't one step down fron the nitronomes. Isn't the charged walk speed of the DA and the FF slightly lower but still faster than Irontech walk speed?

Go check the new proto bomb. Or firecracker/static flash/cold snap. Then compare their damage with some sword or gun.

Then find an equivalent 5* weapon and export the damage.
