Compensation for unexpected server downtimes

The current patch used longer than expected time to install; while I wasn't affected (GMT+8), I heard a lot of European players were.

When the servers went back up, OOO announced elevator fee reduction as a compensation. However, the European players had already went to bed.

My suggestion is simple: Record the hours the service was interrupted, and give the elevator fee reduction one day later at the same hours.

e.g.
Servers went down unexpectedly from 21:00 to 23:15 on 2012-05-11.
Elevator fee will be reduced from 21:00 to 23:15 on 2012-05-12.

Justly give the compensation to those who were affected.

Hm...

Makes no difference really; there are too many unknowns.

That day could've been your last 'free' day in a while, and 'tomorrow' could be a school/work/something else day.

Is it possible to track who TRIED to log on? If it is, why not send something (mini mist tank or short-term elevator pass) to those who did? I think this'd be easier if it were possible, and is more likely to give back to those who were actually affected.

I don't think OOO cares much

I don't think OOO cares much in terms of energy spent/crowns earned/etc.

For example, I was stuck in a level and couldn't move. I called a GM, and he tried to teleport me to another location but I was still stuck. So he teleported me to the next level. I didn't spend mist for this elevator ride, but neither did I earn any crowns/heat/mats for the bugged level, and that was before arsenal stations so I ended up in a Candlestick Keep level in inappropriate equipment (dark thorn blade, piercing armor), which I normally would've waited until arena shows up. GM then left.

I don't think Game Masters are encourage/allowed to refund us mist/crystals for most cases.

So the elevator fee reduction was more like an apology, "Hey sorry we messed up, here, have a bone!" But in how it was carried out, completely oblivious to time zone differences, the bone hit the European players right on their foreheads.

Adjusting the time so that affected players can actually enjoy it is the simplest solution.

If you mail a mist tank or limited elevator pass on login, players not actually affected could login once, even when at that time they're out of mist/crystal. If you do that you may as well send one to everyone or lower elevator fee for 24 hours.
