Magnus Line/Iron Slug: Give it some knockback?

So in the last big major weapons patch, the Punch Gun was given two bullets, making it seem like the spiritual predecessor to the Magnus line instead of a strange standalone gun with 1 bullet.
While messing around with it, I noticed Punch Gun also knocked monsters back at least 1 full tile!

I tested Callahan and found no such knockback.

During the free-elevator fun, I created an Iron Slug in anticipation for the next weapon updates. I confirmed (since Punch Gun is normal, like the Iron Slug), it does not have any knockback, except for the charge.

I propose Punch Gun's knockback be fitted to the Magnus Line guns. If not the entire line, then the Iron Slug.

So, how about it? The knockback would definitely help balance out the fact that you stand in place while shooting the gun, and I'd almost welcome that over an actual damage boost, which that line feels also like it needs.

If you were to, then the Callahan would get about 1.5 to 2 squares, and the Iron slug would get 3-5 squares per hit. The slug is supposed to be a massive BLAM anyways.

Well it's been confirmed that they already have something in mind for the Magnus line (Nick has said himself that at least the Iron Slug is going to get a buff to make it more useful.)

Judging from the most recent starter gear buff, it seems likely they'll be getting something like that, if not more.

I just hope that the shots get an art update too. The starter stuff looks/sounds awesome now, and even the punch line's bullets look cooler.

There have been some good suggestions before to buff the magnus line. Someone suggested making the shots pierce enemies, or maybe just the charge do so. I'm hoping that's what is coming for the buff. It would make the line much more viable considering it puts about as many shots out in the same time frame as the alchmer line except with no ricochet and more risk because of the even more reduced mobility. It would certainly make up some of the utility it lacks now.

They could give the piercing/penetrating/goes-through-multiple-targets-until-the-bullet-path-ends to Callahan and knockback to Iron Slug.

Hurr

I was kidding. If it had that kind of knockback it would have its damage neutered.

Maybe a couple spaces per bullet.

Knockback?

Not sure how much usefulness knockback will give the Magnus (Callahan specific) lines. Since you're not firing a lot of bullets, and the enemies weak to pierce can close the distance between people very quickly. It would be like knocking back 1 wolver in a group of 5, then having that wolver pop right back next to you. Same idea with greavers and devilites. Piercing bullets would be a lot more useful, and as long at the bullets don't knockback (the charge could use that) to cause multi-hits on the same mob, it wouldn't be too overpowered.

It seems like the devs already have an idea for what they want to do with the gun, so for now we can just sit back and hope for the best.

I have worries about changes

I have worries about changes to this line, because right now, since Callahan has a very unique niche against wolvers, greavers, and devilites. It's fast enough to catch them even in t3 where they dodge like mad, and it interrupts their charged attacks pretty consistently. Granted, it's hard to use particularly when you are tracking a lot of targets, but I hope the changes don't destroy the utility on the gun.
