My suggestions:
1. While were in the clockworks have a thing next to our names saying how much damage we've given to monsters during our run.
2. Everyday we log on to Spiral Knights all knights get a free daily spin to win Cr, Ce, accessory's, costumes (They don't have to be rare) etc.
3. Make DA a little faster.
4. Free cookies.
The cake was true, but the statement was false; the cake had nothing to do with the promise.
A damage counter has been suggested before and has been defeated because it inflated egos.

How long have you played? Doesn't matter that your t3, you could buy a ton of energy and get your armor with that in less than 5 mins.

Also note: Gear level is not an indication of experience. It's a simple matter for a P2Per (not accusing anyone, just stating extremist facts) to buy a load of CE and play for a single day and get to full 5*.
Granted, that's a lot of cash spent, but still entirely plausible.
EDIT: Sniped, but that would only be possible if you bought all your 5* stuff off the AH, and you'd have to be either randomly selecting or already know what you're looking for.

Create knigth-->spin-->delete
Even without that, you can make 3 accounts -9 characters in total- for free.

DA is slow because of it's increased damage. If DA was as fast as a Calibur, there would be no reason to use anything else. If the DA was as fast as a striker, no-one WOULD use anything else.
Damage count=Elitist braggarts.
Free things on login=exploitation via alts.
