Enable previous armor/helm variants as costume options

I recently acquired an Azure Guardian Helm, and while it admittedly looks cool, I thought the Mighty Cobalt Helm was better-looking, and I miss being able to see my eyes. It'd be really wasteful, not to mention inventory-cluttering, to go craft another Mighty Cobalt Helm just for cosmetic appearances. Instead, why not have an option to use previous versions in a certain item's alchemy line as costume variants? You could select from them on the drop-down menu in your inventory, just as we select a certain item as a costume now. Team Fortress 2 does something similar to this with certain hats, adding different "styles" that the player can switch between. It'd sure beat having to keep around a bunch of obsolete helms and armor.

It's a mess if you take accesories into account.

I don't really think it would

I don't really think it would be. You can either have the accessories appear on whatever variant you're displaying, or just have them stick to the armor they're actually attached to.

Eh...

I think the problem lies in the fact that different "variations" of the same helm accept different accessories. For example, the Mighty Cobalt Helm accepts a front accessory. Azure Guardian accepts top and back, but no front. If you wanted to switch from Mighty Cobalt style to Azure Guardian, what would happen to the front accessory?

Like I said, then you can

Like I said, then you can just not worry about them for the "lower" variants. The main point here is just getting the basic look as an option.

Yeh, i had the same problem

Yeh, i had the same problem with my seraphic helm. So i had to craft another one to use for strictly costume purposes. But, i dont know if you're idea will work.
