The camp is essentially the tutorial for the game in terms of basic combat; how to shield and use both the basic and charge attacks for the various weapon types. Notice how they now have a short tutorial on how to use a bomb. Also notice how T1 enemies appear in floors accessed through the camp. Keep in mind 2* is meant for T2. The camp is the low T1 range. Therefore they should only have 1*- equipment available there. Returning to the camp is not an option currently because it would cause wealthier users to invade the area where new users mingle, provoking issues; imagine all the bitter responses I give poured onto the heads of a few dozen people at once rather than one less than competent user. The merchant was removed because the first few missions give the equipment which were once available through them for free with UVs far outclassing purchasing the items alone, teaching new users that UVs give very significant bonuses and should burn crowns at Punch to get UVs for equipment and/or craft to get UVs; either way it means more money is being spent while new users get free stuff to use instead of working for it like veterans had to.
