I haven't made it back onto SK yet (Still downloading ._.) And I use a PS3 controller.
If I can't use my damn controller.

Considering several members
Considering several members of the staff have talked about how they use controllers when they play, including Nick, I'm certain this is an error.
In the meantime, Xpadder will help - if you run it in the background it'll allow you to map controller input to keystrokes. It's not PERFECT but it'll get the job done temporarily.

Keyboard is perfectly fine.
WASD to move, mouse to change direction, mouse wheel to scroll through weapons, left click to attack, and right click to shield.
Not hard.

I have a two-analog-stick controller with four shoulder buttons--perfect for advanced play (Robotron style). How would I go about setting this up? How did it work before? Could you set up four axes? What's wrong with it now?

Damienfoxy, stop being a whiny and bossy 12 year old. It's not hard to play SK with the keyboard and mouse, even if you play with a laptop. I know so because I play with a laptop and I know loads of other people that play on a laptop and use the WASD keys to move and mouse to attack, shield and switch weapons.
BTW, all your raging won't make the devs work any faster. If anything, I hope it makes them go slower to see if they make you rage enough to quit the game. SK doesn't need people with your kind of attitude.

Usually I would use an x360 controller, but it seems all direct input devices (joypads) aren't working on this current patch. Will be fixed soon (along with the stutters / freezing hopefully)

Same, the controller I use isn't detected by SK at all. -_-
I use the mouse for attacking and items, and a Wiimote nunchuk for movement and shielding. I can't imagine playing the game any other way. x_x
