This may sound like a stupid question, but what does status resist on a shield actually ~do~? Because it doesn't seem to provide me with any noticeable resistance to that status, and according to the wiki's Shield page, a shield's resistances only apply when the shield is up. So can some status attack simply punch through a shield (I think I've seen this kind of thing from Lumber stun), or do attacks that would inflict status deal more damage to a shield that doesn't resist that status?
Question about shields (Status resist)
Also some attacks have pure status but no raw damage. An example would be zombie's breath or a mist bomb (some battlepods).
Follow up question-
Can you destroy a Guardian Shield faster with a Pepperbox than you could with a Needle Shot?
EDIT: Or Nightblade vs. Elemental Brandish, for the sensible comparison.
I'm pretty sure Lockdown shields function differently. A shields-up Guardian can stand in a mist bomb all day long without any detriment or shield damage (Been there, done that), whereas their shielded allies will still get the status effect.
The shield first blocks the damage portion of the lumber attack; if it still survives, then it blocks the status effect. Shields do take more damage if they don't resist that status effect.
A shield's (default) status resist is pretty much infinite. It can stand in status breath/mist all day long.
@Tiasthyr i have one thing to say, the shield haz equal resist to all dmg types,so none off them have any quiker time.
PS. u gotta get ur needle to blitz
do attacks that would inflict status deal more damage to a shield that doesn't resist that status?
^this is correct
