it is reasonable as:
1. people are supposed to rest at night :P
2. there isn't any sleep inflicting weapon yet
with little exchange of damage output
add nightblade/shadow alchemer line with sleep inflicting status
I rather thought about poison for nightblades. No brandish inflicts poison. Yet. Plus, it is unfair how nightblades are weaker than the other brandishes.
The problem with sleep is that it freezes the enemy until it is hit, yet it heals during this process. The problem with this is you can't attack enemies or you'll wake em up, but they are regenerating health the whole time. Now in PvP, what would players do if they fell asleep? They would have to wait for someone to hit them to move again, thus making sleep OP.
opps i wasn't aware of the health regen...i treat sleeping as an attack disturber:P
but still the same, i am thinking of some new brandish/alchemer lines with shadow+status damage.
it is feasible because: there exists plenty of weapons with piercing/normal/elemental damage + status, however there are few shadow weapons with status infliction(faust lines, biohazard lines). moreover some members of fiend and undead can also output shadow+ status damage. so it is reasonable to introduce that sooner and later.
of course i would appreciate a shadow+poison weapon, hovever it seems too OP.
therefore i will just propose some new combination with existing counterparts
pure shadow (existing)
shadow+ fire(recipe available at HoH): perfect for shadow lair RJP and normal RJP
shadow+ freeze(recipe available at HoH): for gremlin bombers and oiler/ quicksilver
shadow+ shock (recipe available by exchanging krongo tokens only): pvp and ditto, except quicksilver
furthermore, if it is still considered to be OP at tier 2 PVP, what if these variations are only offered at 4*/5*?
i didn't mention about bombs, since i didn't have experience for using them

If they added poison they would have to nerf the damage output slighltly, because these shadow weapons do a bit more damage than their elemental relatives.
I though about suggesting an idea of a status for them, 'fear', which would make them run away from the player. But then I realised that you could then trap enemies in corners and such, making it silly.
@Toxicblade, No, only the shadowtech line does more damage than it's respective status alchemers. The nightblade does the same amount of damage as all brandishes
The idea of Nightblade line having either a status or damage buff is a perfectly good one. Personally, I'd swing towards giving it Poison, since it's meant to corrupt knights and so forth (Curse would be ridiculously overpowered, due to the speed at which it charges and the extent of its charge).
Sleep would be a bad idea, since the function of sleep is bugged - healing damage, and rendering someone incapable of action. So... yeah.
Hahahah no.
Sleep was considered OP and taken from all gear and monsters (now it's only from vials)
Also, that first reason... just take that out. Unless there's a good reason, I completely disagree.
