So, from what I've seen, sword charges are by far more useful than gun charges, which are rarely used outside of the blitz needle. More to the point, sword charges are MUCH too easy to spam at monsters that are otherwise dangerous; gremlin thwackers are frightening, but not if you've got an acheron throw them across the stage. If players were forced to give up the "charge and run" technique, or at least have it nerfed, swords would be harder to use.
Also, gun and bomb charges are inconvenient to carry around since they reduce movement speed; it's annoying to charge a gun and go to the next fight with that charge. So, here's what I think should happen;

Make sword charges have the same movement speed loss as guns, while charging. ALSO, make all movement speed losses while charging not take effect once a weapon is fully charged.

This makes it still possible to "charge and run" but players must back off to a safe distance before initiating a charge; a monster will catch them if they resume charging immediately. It also gives gunners and bombers the ability to carry charges from one fight to the next without moving slowly and getting left behind.

the movement

the movement speed is there to balance out the weapon power and effect. if the movement speed was gone after u charged, then the counterbalance for each individual weapon would cease and that would over power the weapons.

so, weapons like electron charge or gravity bomb would be greatly overpowered. i don't think this is a good idea.

The only weapon line in the

The only weapon line in the game that doesn't have a movement speed decrease while charging is the brandish line. Drivers have an incredibly powerful, useful, and not-at-all unpopular charge attack. AP and Sentenza have very high potential charge attacks that are not commonly used.
Out of all the sword lines in the game, there are 4 lines with worthwhile charges: Calibur, Brandish, Avenger, and FoV.
There are 4 gun lines with worthwhile charges: Alchemers (let's count this as one line) which can hit a single target 13 times with a bit of skill, Catalyzers which basically depend on their charges, Antiguas which can unleash massive, high-damage birds what can seriously wound mobs, and Autoguns which hands down the single highest DPS in the game.
You aren't supposed to carry charges with you through the level until the next fight. You are a Gunslinger, things spawn at a distance, and you use that distance to charge and aim your shot or just pick it off. Even logisticly, does the gun charge pose look like it facilitates running? With a sword, almost all of your damage comes from close range, so you can excuse the quicker running speed because you need to get in closer, quicker. Bombs do either long range damage (although not for long), or mid range, delayed AoE. Either way, there is no threat at close range, so you don't need full running speed to evade damage.

Excuse me?
I object to the implication that gun charges are useless.
Polaris charges are admittedly useless, but the pure damage Drivers are best used only with their charge and Catalysers have massive explosive charges - not to mention the Sentenza/Graviton charge combo for MASSIVE (shadow) DAMAGE. This isn't really necessary; heavy swords already have a speed decrease whilst charging. I admit that the Brandish charge needs retweaking somewhat, but slowing down the user isn't the answer so much as reducing the number of explosions it creates.

We need changes, but not these changes.

Ummm... swords are already suppsoed to be stronger han guns. A normal sword swing is stronger than a normal shot. Charges fllo the same path.

Guns have range and mobility, among other things.

autoguns dont. and thats all

autoguns dont. and thats all i use. i think something needs to be done about reload times for guns though. the worst is when you use the autogun charge and are forced to stand there while it reloads.

...you only use autoguns

DEAR GOD SOMEONE HELP THIS GUY
We need a pro gunner
someone call Storm-Shooter D<

The reload time is necessary, or else Autogun would be too OP.
It already has the highest damage output of all the guns - in fact, of pretty much anything, unless you're using it on pierce-resistant enemies. The 'fixed in place' mechanic is to prevent it from being too powerful. Taking out the drawback of it, the reload, would mean you need even less skill to use it.
It's not meant to be spammed like AP or Sentenza. You're meant to be somewhat careful with it.
