Hi everyone!

What do you guys think, what loadout is good for soloing FSC (NOT including Vana) ?
I'd like to farm crowns :P
Currently, I have Vog + Leviathan .

1. Skill > Gear... if you

1. Skill > Gear... if you don't know how to dodge, you will fail even with the best gear possible. FSC in particular put you in small rooms with lots of slag walkers and some trojans. First tell us about how you are doing in T3 clockworks, particularly against trojans?

2. Skill partially comes from experience... have you done FSC in a group before?

3. Without a gun (Polaris/Supernova/Elemental Alchemer) or getting two shock vials, you'd need very good dodging skills to do d25 puppy room.

4. Without fighting Vana's mask, there is no need for normal damage. Got any elemental and piercing sword?

5. What shield do you have? Do you lag into traps a lot?

I can solo FSC (including Vana) with just Glacius and Polaris (3rd slot used for heating, and I'm not maintaining the 4th slot - too expensive). No deaths, and only use 1-2 pills in d28.

A few things

1) No need for Vog if you're not facing Vana. I'd take Shadow armour, assuming you actually do get hit a fair bit. If not, then as usual, go with the most useful offensive bonus. (Of course, if you have huge fire problems and no other fire resist armour, then stick with Vog.)
2) Levi can do the job, but not very efficiently. I'd pick up an ele brandish and a pierce weapon for the trojans (can be blitz).
3) CoA for shield. Owlite's only advantage is against Vana's bullets.

Polaris is very handy for

Polaris is very handy for controlling the crowds of slags. You can also use it to do the rocket room without diverting the puppy's attention and sneaking past it, as mentioned earlier.

That's... that's actually all you need. Everything can be done pretty safely and efficiently with Polaris, but you might want to bring one of the following to dispatch with Trojans quicker (in descending order of expedience):
-Blitz Needle
-Radiant Sun Shards
-Toothpick
-Dark Briar Barrage
-Nitronome
-Any non-shadow sword
-Shivermist (increases expedience if combined with Needle, Toothpick or Shards, but a trojan can safely be killed with just Shiver)

I find that fire resistance is by far more important than shadow resistance for your armour, so give that some thought.

There are even better use of polaris in the puppy room:

1. Make slag walkers in north section gather near the wall, close to you. Shoot them once (aim between the wall and the stone blocks). If the shot inflicts shock, it is very likely will break the ghost block. If not, let the slag walkers walk close to you again before firing another shot (you don't want them shocked and knocked away from the wall). Then you move through, clockwise, leaving the puppy sleeping. Repeat for east section.

2. If you managed to kill all slag walkers in north section before shock happens, you can enter the south section (and stop right next to the wall). Keep 4 tiles of distance between you and the puppy, and spam shooting. The expanded shot will stop it from firing even one shot, and you can kill it and move to east section. The puppy when respawned will be facing south and sleeping.

3. Distract it like Zeddy said, while someone else moves through.

my two cents

Evilnut is right, that skill is more important than gear in this game. But we can't really teach skills here; all we can do is advise on gear. So let's stick to gear. I largely agree with Derpules.

Your Vog Cub is fine for FSC depths 24-27. I would not change it, although some shadow armor would be fine. You didn't mention your shield.

Most of your targets are vulnerable to elemental damage, so your main weapon is an elemental sword or gun, probably. I almost never use Polaris, but Polaris is fine. (By the way, you absolutely do NOT need a gun, special vials, or weird dodging skills to clear the rocket puppy room. Search for threads on this topic.)

Most of the remaining targets are trojans. When soloing against trojans, I prefer Final Flourish or Barbarous Thorn Blade, for the improved mobility. In a party, I prefer Blitz Needle. And on those occasions when you do fight Vanaduke, Blitz Needle is the better choice.

@Evilnut

I find 2 to be much easier than 1 as I keep pushing the slags away. 1 is more of an alchemer/shock potion trick.

The distraction trick I mentioned is possibly what Bopp refers to. It can be done (and is easiest to perform when) solo.

all you need are: -

all you need are:

- Voltedge
- Argent Peacemaker
- Blitz Needle
- Barbarous Thorn Blade
- Barbarous Thorn Shield (dmg bonus). Go with Owlite or Blackened Crest series if you suck.
- Snarbolax Cap or Coat
- Vog Cap or Coat
- Sword Damage Trinket
- Sword ASI or CTR Trinket

Instead of telling him what the maximal loadout might be, let's tell him what the minimal loadout might be. This guy has a Leviathan. He wants to farm FSC and then get good stuff, not get good stuff and then farm FSC.

If you want a list of minimal

If you want a list of minimal loadout that still helps, the Levi blade can be used decently on Trojan's backs. I'd suggest aiming for an elemental brandish or DA to mop up waves and waves of slags first.

Double vog is alright, just be careful about not getting hit by enemies, because they all do shadow damage. It'll protect you from them burning you for too long.

What's your shield? I used BTS and still do, just because the damage bonus is really nice. If you're looking for a shield that blocks stuff better, Owlite or Blackened Crest (have friends that can help you kill Vana?) is better.

Do you have any weapon trinkets? If no, then go Levi blade + brandish, and use the shock trick for the rocket puppy room, or dance around it. If you have one spare slot upgrade, I definitely have to give a vote for the polaris. Even as a gigawatt pulsar, it's still very useful for shooting at pretty much everything.

Thanks

Thank you all for your response :)

I can dodge quite well, I have Owlite shield, and I only have Levi + the rocket sword from the expansion.
Yes I did FSC 4-5 times, I can do it, the thing is I just lose a lot of health (but I don't die) or it just takes forever.
Oh, and no, I don't have any trinkets now.

Thank you again!

I don't like soloing, but these are the loadouts I use when soloing FSC:

Hybrid Sword/Gun:
- Glacius (CTR low)
- Polaris
- Final Flourish (+dam vs Beasts med)
- Argent Peacemaker (ASI low) or Nova Driver (+dam vs Undead med)
- Snarbolax Cap
- Snarbolax Coat
- Crest of Almire
- Penta-Heart Pendant
- Elite Trueshot Module (Gun +dam med)

I like this loadout because it gives +dam VH (vs Undead) on my Glacius, Final Flourish, and AP/Nova, which is rare and ideal in most hybrid loadouts. I use the Polaris for mainly knockback, not damage, so I don't really care how much damage it is putting out (That being said, it can still pump out a lot of damage to a large crowd, so I use it over a Supernova). When soloing, death is a worse punishment (i.e. wasted CE). That is why I wear Snarby, the Heart Trinket, and use the Crest of Almire (instead of BTS or Swiftstrike).

Gunslinger
- Nova Driver (+dam vs Undead med)
- Divine Avenger
- Polaris
- Blitz Needle (+dam vs Fiend low)
- Shadowsun Stetson (Curse Resist low)
- Shadowsun Slicker (Pierce Resist low)
- Crest of Almire or Swiftstrike Buckler
- Penta-Heart Pendant
- Elite Trueshot Module (Gun +dam med)

Basic gunner setup. It will give you +dam Max with all guns, which is always nice. The Nova Driver is the primary weapon, while the Blitz is for Trojans, the Polaris is incase of emergencies, and the Divine Avenger if I need to carve myself a bit of breathing room. Some people tell me that this is a hybrid build... Ok technically it is, but I don't believe in limiting myself for the sake of an appropriate labeled. Gunning tends to be safer than swords, thus the Swiftstrike Buckler is an option for ASI.
