Ever got an awesome UV but on the wrong piece of equipment? How awesome would it be to be able to trade UVs from one piece of equipment to another piece of equipment? Of course you wouldn't be able to trade weapon uvs to armor or something like that. However it would offer a chance to truly be able to make the perfect piece of equipment. I foresee one major problem: people crafting 1 star items to get good UVs to trade them to other items. However this could be fixed if it is only possible to trade uvs to other pieces of equipment with the same number of stars.
Trading UV's
Ok, only make it possible to trade uvs on 5* items. Problem Solved.
I believe it would give people more reasons to craft. Use more CE and spend more crowns to trade them over. Think about this. It costs 10 ce to make an one star item (well a bit more than with crowns and mats included). The chances of getting some uv of VH is roughly 5.56% ± 4.32% (straight from the wiki site) At best, there is almost a 10 percent chance that someone could get that uv from crafting. If one played the game of chance, they would choose to craft approximately 10 items to get the desired uv. They've spent 100 ce in this endeavor, 2k crs, plus the mats. Then once they get the uv, they would then have to upgrade it to 2*, which is another 50 ce plus 400 crs and mats. Then, they would have to spend money or ce to trade the uv over to another item, which i wouldn't imagine would being less than the price of adding one uv. So this person would have spent at least 150 ce and 22,400 crs plus mats.
And if you look at the larger picture, the worth 1 and 2 star items with good uvs would go up dramatically as people are in essence buying the uvs. This would also create a larger sink for mats, which would make them more valuable, open a larger sink for ce and crowns. People would be forced to adventure or grind to heat their new weapons to 5*. It would also give those who aren't as lucky to roll really good uvs on the tenth or twentieth try a chance to get good uvs. Thus eliminating one reason to farm for crowns.
No longer are people grinding for crs as much, but for mats and heat.
Personally, i have tons of mats that i can't do anything with. I know they have value, but no one is going to buy them for a price that i think they are worth ( and i'm not talking about millions or anything like that).
Correct me I'm wrong, but that 5% is 5% of 10%, or 0.5%?
I thought you have a 10% base chance of getting a UV, and of that 10%, 5.56% is for a VH
I crafted an ASI High on my Neutralizer, a gun that I never use and most certainly would not call worthy for that UV. I also have a BTB, sitting pretty with a Beast Low because I have uncanny luck with 5* UV crafts. See where this is going? There exist in this world, people with ASI DAs and CTR GFs. There are people with Shock Max Jelly Helms, and Skolver Caps with Poison Low. It doesn't matter how many ★s the item is, as long as you can upgrade it to 5*
Not to mention that you entirely neglected to explain the mechanics of trading multiple UVs onto an item.
@Havenihaveaproblem you made a good point.
@Dukeplatypus I think we aren't on the same page because you're thinking that trade (in the case i use it) means transfer, which is similar, but not exactly what i was suggesting. Let me provide a good context. I have a blitz with Construct high and a polaris with undead High. I would prefer to have the undead high on my blitz and construct high on my polaris. It's as simple as that. It is true that people would find a way to use things to their advantage, but you have to wonder who are they hurting when building the best weapons for them. Are they hurting the environment? No. Are they hurting others in PVP, maybe. Who wouldn't want to have the best weapons for pvp? Besides, with trinkets you can already max crt, dam, and as. Even with max as and max crt, you still aren't invincible. As I've learned, good weapons help in PVP, but if you can't use them skillfully, then they are useless. I say this because one time I was killed by a guy wearing proto and using a proto sword. Not my proudest moment, but I never claimed to be pro in PVP.
Just to be clear, I suggested the ability to trade (swap) uv's between items. Therefore, both items must have an uv to begin with.
Swapping multiple uv's goes without saying.
Actually, being able to choose the uvs you want (in a sense) would free up those trinket slots for other trinkets, such as Soaking wet stone, ect.
I have five sets of armor, and i personally hate being forced to choose to go vog when going the fight vana. I would love to go Snarby and have fire protection and have bonuses on my weapons which makes the game go more smoothly.
I guess one could argue that skill tops gear, but i would counter and say that better gear saves time and relieves the worry of making one wrong step.
Actually, you could almost choose the perfect uv with punch, though it is very costly.
I could understand trading UV's between the same peices of equipment. It would be kinda odd though.
You do realize how broken that would be, right? The reason the UV market even exists in the first place is because certain UVs are more desirable on certain weapons than others.
Have an ASI VH Searing edge? Just move that to a Flourish!
Craft a CTR High Cautery Sword? Move it to a 3* Alchemer, one of the other 3* Brandishes, or any 3* bomb at all!
