In case anyone hasn't heard of it yet, there's an up-and-coming open Android-based game console, Ouya: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ouya/ouya-a-new-kind-of-video-game-c...

What are the odds of seeing Spiral Knights ported over to it? Obviously I'd assume Three Rings wouldn't be able to make any concrete plans, but I'm curious if it's feasible given SK is already cross-platform. There's also the complication of supporting Steam accounts to consider.

I hate all consoles and all

I hate all consoles and all console games with a passion (excluding those that are also available for PC).

It could be a fantastic

It could be a fantastic alternative for people that can't afford a good enough computer, or for people that usually use something not powerful enough to run Spiral Knights like a Netbook. The Ouya only costs $99, so it's not like it will break the bank of most people. If it's feasible, why not try to attract a wider audience? I couldn't image anyone would take so much offense as to stop playing just because the game supports a new platform, and it would bring it new players in to bolster the community.

The game should actually transfer pretty well to the controller; there's not a lot of complex controls considering most boil down to move, attack, defend, switch weapon, and then 4 for use item. So, as an example control configuration, you've got the control stick to move, the triggers to cycle through which item at the top you've select, the four buttons for attack, defend, switch weapon, and use item. You could even map simple commands to the D-Pad so you could quickly tell people to charge or whatever else.

@Tzarl: Spiral Knights

@Tzarl: Spiral Knights already supports PC controllers, actually. It's one of the things that got me to start playing.

@Canine-Vladmir: There are actually more available - they upped the $99 pledges to 80,000.

I was going to make this thread

You beat me to it. I was going to make this thread. I would also like to add on that spiral knights is already the free-with-paid-option that Ouya says all of its games must be. I love the idea of being able to put spiral knights on a TV without having to hook up my netbook (which can barely handle spiral knights--I usually play on a desktop).

I also just love the Ouya business model in general, and think spiral knights with a console would be great, although I think the button layout should be:
Left Stick: Move
Right Stick: Face this direction
Right Trigger/R2: Attack
Left Trigger/L2: Shield
Left and Right Bumpers/L1+R1: Switch weapons
Color Buttons: Items

You could use the D-pad to drop things or some such.

+1 from me
