This happened to me, but i got passed it but the hall of heroes is when it starts to feel like when you have to pay physical cash for the transmutation of energy.

As you know the crafting for a 3 star item is 2k crown plus 200 CE. getting CE is not easy.
I know you can convert your crowns into 100 CE at a price around 8k crowns.
And its not easy getting crowns.

To get crowns you need to do missions. But the elevator is very expensive too as well with a price of 10 mist per pass.

This might be very troubling to a lot of players. I haven't had this problem because i bought an antigua and a sealed sword. Also i purchased in game cash with physical money.

Something as far as Rank 5-2, I think that should be changed considering this game is free to play.

My humble suggestion. I got passed this mission already myself, but I heard a lot of complaints about progression to the other missions

Oh boy...

Four and five star suff will be even more painful. Try repeating boss missions a lot: they usually pay out better.

Also, to craft stuff that needs 200 energy, you only need to use 100 ce and 100 mist.

Remember, the devs intentionally want you to pay. So patience is the key.

But you definitely need some 3*gear. This game can get pretty hard.

But it is easy. You just

But it is easy. You just have to take your time and slowly build up crowns to spend on energy. It is possible for F2Pers to get past 3-star, I know, I've done it. Hell, I went all the way to 4-star before getting impatient and buying energy.

If 3-star equipments were given out upon completion, the transition to 4-star would be even more jarring. And then people would say "Well, I got stuck on rank 6 because I couldn't get 4 star equips! The mission should hand them to me on a silver platter!" (Not sure if Rank 6 is the 4-star one.) Making crowns easier to obtain will only equate to a rising energy cost.

Pfft.

I got to 5* before missions were put into the game, FTP. (I only got OCH because a friend gifted it to me via Steam.)

Imagine, 100 mist in 22h, proto gear. Recipes only available to buy from Bazaar, Basil, and Auction House. That was it. No missions, no Hall of Heroes, no free 2* stuff. (Clearance for the next Tier could only be gotten by talking to the guy at the barrier in the towns in Clockwork, wearing 2*/4* equipment.)

Now you get completely free Tier 2 clearance (from the free mission stuff you get to pass the 2* HoH like a breeze).

We still have no access to the new rescue camp, no access to one free height, eyes, accessories at character creation.

And no refund for recipes we had already learned when they were suddenly free from missions, BOUND.

And you want yet more!?

Ramorri, energy cost has nothing to do with mission pay out, but because some petty loser(s) without any power in real life getting a kick out of putting up walls of 1000+ and 2000+ bids at the same price, so the next player wanting ce puts theirs higher, the next puts theirs higher again. Add a few folks that think creating gaps makes it go faster rather than raising the price for everyone. (Click buy ce on trade tab if you want it fast!) And then the wall is moved yet higher.

The only way to fight that is to never put your bid above the wall when you see it. That way, the loser(s) get ce they don't really want for a way to high price that they raised it to, the next time someone clicks buy cr on trade tab. Watch them remove the wall when they get too much ce that way!

Alternately, just collect ce (by bids at lowest visible price and waiting) at the ever higher price until you got enough to hit that wall (with profit). That's what I do, now that I don't really need to make any new stuff anymore.

Which brings me back to Dusvio. Enjoy the climb. Once you got to 5*, that's it. It was far more exciting to finally make Glacius, than yet another 3*, 4*, 5* thing that caught my fancy, not really needing it.

"bought an antigua and a sealed sword"

This is the core of your problem here. You never grinded. This game, like many other games, requires grinding. You assumed that you can get all the items with minimal effort. Try repeating profitable missions and clockwork dives.

@Mickmane

I don't deny that there are a select group of people who are increasing the price of energy sales, but even without them, more available crowns would equate more expensive CE. Many of OOO's solutions to rising energy cost involved either a promotion (good for them), or the addition of a crown-sink into the game (Punch & Vice, Featured Auctions, etc.).

Hypothetically speaking, let's say RJP suddenly gave out 10,000 crowns per run. At the current prices, someone could do a run, and grab enough energy to do 3-4 more, and it would just continue to build up from there! To counter-act the sudden surge of purchases, demand, the market would raise the price of energy until it was somewhat balanced as it is now. When there's more demand and a steady supply (more and more people playing Spiral Knights, and I assume the ration of F2P and P2P is somewhat equal, or those who are P2P became it later on in their knighting career), the market can afford to go into higher prices.

All in all, the above was just a drawn out way to say: Mission payout (and Arcade payout, for that matter) affects energy price.
