im just wondering if there was a way to buff the mercurial demo set without making it op. if it had bomb dmg: very high and movement: med, most people would say it would be overpowered, but we have to remember it is a shadow lair piece, so its very hard to get compared to other armors. Does anybody have any suggestions about how to make the suit better, but not completely rediculous?

Giving it more damage would make it superior to Bombastic.
Giving it more movement speed would bump the speed to 140% base movement speed. Which is fast.
MDemo is one of the better Shadow Lair armors, next to Snarbolax.
Just because it's hard to get, thats no excuse to make it overpowered. Yeah, reward players for their hard work, but dont break the balance. It' not the best, but it's fine right now. At most add another satus resist or change defense type. If you want more/better bonuses then at least suggest a drawback to compensate, like Mad Bomber and Chaos sets or Mask of Seerus.

Now look at jelly mail.
It's basically the same but with a max ice UV. Shadow lair gear is better then average 5*'s.
I don't think it needs a buff, but it should have piercing ressist. Or there should be something like it with piercing ressist.
Snarbolax is basically Skolver with shadow defense instead of pierce and poison resistance slapped on next to freeze.
Spiral Demo lines should have their defenses more variated like the other weapon specialist armor and has been brought up several times around here: changing the element defense of Mad Bomber to shadow, changing the element defense of Bombastic to pierce, and buffing MercDemo to +2 movement increase per part while keeping the +1 damage per part but keeping its element defense.
Mad bomber I wouldn't really care about, since it's not built for defense anyway. I'd rather not have shadow on it, the elemental is just for blast box accidents (demo?). We really need piercing bomber gear though, bomb spam is the only way to annoy LD stormtroopers. This makes way for gunners, that normally fall to a swordie with common sense. Rather rock-paper-scissors esque. Since MD is the only demo suit that helps recons in LD (they have max CTR), it should really have more variants. Definitely one that has jelly armors resistance + shock (the bane of bombers).
i still think it should be...different i guess. maybe the bomb dmg bonus should be high? but not very high? that way i dont think it would replace bombastic, but would be more useable.
You mean high damage bonus on each peice? Or as a set?
My opinion stands-
Shadow Lair gear should optimally give tremendous offensive bonuses at the cost of defenses. Look at chaos cloak, but exaggerated that a bit.
Merc demo should optimally have:
-Movement speed low
-Bomb damage low
-Bomb CTR med
-Shock Max (as current)
-Slightly less than the current amount of elemental defense
-Zero normal defense
That's...... extreme.... and actually, I like merc demo for NOT having CTR. In fact, that's why I want to get the suit, since my clockworks bashing occasionally includes shock floors, and uber-long passageways.... and bombs with CTR low or higher UVs.
In my opinion, the MSI should be the factor that's increased. Really, some levels of the CW become staggeringly slow (examples including various levels of FSC, IMF, and most amazingly, decon zones), MSI can make DPS bombers a more viable "saboteur" class, as it will give them the opportunity to run up/through various sections of the CW and disarm traps, eliminate major threats, etc. DPS bombing could become far more acceptable if that nitronome spam is literally not in the rest of the party's screen. Not to mention getting CTR max UV'ed bombs+ a mad bomber cap for good measure could create the ultimate strikebombing class which may or may not compete with the clones in the clone wars of t3. I mean, 114% movement (of one piece of merc. demo) + a strike shield + RSS/Nitro/Vortex/Haze-of-choice = epic AOE that would make any wolver clone weep.
The argument that MSI breaks the game is not really valid to me. Various measures already are in place to combat this. (See: Party Buttons, death, death, and MORE DEATH) UVs currently break the game more than I've seen MSI do it. I mean really, why not make a suit tailored specifically so that bombers can dodge attacks better? You already do the same thing with swordies and gunmen.
If merc demo does receive an increase to it's MSI... I'd be willing to deal with some light status debuffs, (fire and freeze in particular) and I wouldn't mind if it were to deflect at 90% it's current rate.
But, with said increase. Merc. Mail would require MSI v.high with the full suit at the very least. The tradeoff (if left alone) is that merc. mail should protect against more damage or add a light sword/gun buff.
However, before thinking 'bout these, try Almiran.
