I recently bought a new mouse, and I love it, except that I've had problems with using the scroll for switching weapons. Even when the scroll is on its lowest setting and smooth scrolling is off, I can often accidentally set my weapons off on a speedy cycle through (where it will land, no one knows!) even when it feels like I'm barely touching the scroll.
My mouse also has a dedicated middle button, and the ability to click to the left and right using the scroll (so, the scroll works as two other buttons, basically).
I tried to set my controls to maybe use the left and right scroll buttons as my previous and next weapon buttons, but SK does not recognize these buttons. I also tried the middle button, and it didn't appear to register that either. Later, when I was editing my controls again, it appeared that something *was* set to middle button, so I guess it had worked but just not shown up. However, the left and right scroll buttons were still not selectable. In actuality, when I click my left scroll button, it seems to do the same thing as using my scroll would, but clicking the right scroll button does nothing.
So right now, I'm not sure which of my buttons I can use and which ones I can't... since I thought I couldn't use my left scroll click, since it won't let me pick it as a control, but it seems to let me use it for the same thing as the scroll?
Anyway, none of that is the point. My suggestion is this: I know that my mouse is nowhere near the most complicated or fanciest mouse out there. SK should support more mouse buttons as control options =) I sent an e-mail, and was told that it might be useful to write a suggestion thread as well, and so here I am.
Take the SWTOR mouse. It has like 9 buttons on the side just for dedicated attacks. That's a different deal, since it was made specifically for SWTOR, but I know that an extra or middle button is not uncommon, and I doubt that my left and right scroll clicks are uncommon either =) Most people I know have a scroll, middle/extra button, and their scroll also functions as one button (instead of two like mine).
I have a similar problem! I have a Logitech, with a wheel that can switch between freewheeling and step wheeling. (Just made those terms, btw) When it is at step wheeling, it tends to get put between one item and another. (The mouse wheel acts like this in any game, so I doubt SK could fix that easily.) This gets very annoying, so I have had to use the space bar to switch. (The middle mouse button guards) Also, there are two buttons on the sides which (in the browser) will go back and forth one page. SK won't use these, and it would help me a lot if I could use these for switching through items instead.
I know that there are profilers that come with some mice that can change the actions of buttons, (such as make button A do the right click instead of the left click) but I am using Linux, and I'm quite sure that there are no such profiler for Linux.
