I bought the Guardians Armor Pack through Steam and have since been trying to get the game to run.
The problems started with the game just closing upon starting it (with java.exe still running in the background).
So I read the FAQ on this site and on the wiki and went through all the steps there - Java updated, graphic drivers updated, registry strings changed and finally game deleted and re-installed; same problem.
I then looked through the .log file and from what I could gather some files were missing, I proceeded to download the non-Steam version (which worked like a charm) and copied all the resources from that installation to the Steam one; game now starts without instantly closing down and it logs me in - however when it's loading Haven it stops loading at 96-97%, I hear a sound effect and then the game stops responding.
I'm assuming it still has something to do with the resource files.
Anything I missed?
I'm running Windows XP with an ATI graphics card.
Okay, let's now not panic, so... first thing first.
Let's look back at people facing Steam issues for the last 3 days, and there's about 2~3 of them.
Say, ye bought this Guardians Armor Pack right?
I assume some of the people who bought it as well has the same problem, and currently if not the same issue, then it's Steam's.
What ye done above didn't go right, so I assume that ye have to reinstall Steam's Spiral Knights, but if the reinstallation DON'T work, uninstall Steam and check completely if Steam is entirely missing from C:/(unless ye had some games downloaded and wish not to burn them down, backup the game files first, with the exception of Spiral Knights, and separate from the file that is going to be uninstalled), lastly, reinstall Steam, and download Spiral Knights. Check and see if the issue is solved.
Also, ye will see that I didn't mention of yer backup game files needed to merge before the installation of Spiral Knights, that's because I wanted ye to test if it is Steam's problem. If yer issue, solved or unsolved, merge back the backup game files along with the current files installed on.
Hope this will help! Good luck!
