URGENT: Gun swap bug, lockdown pvp advantage imbalance

I witnessed someone swapping their gun with another while firing which essentially causes them to fire more bullets more quickly immediately after another firing in lockdown due to resetting their firing cooldown/timer. this is obviously not an intention by the coders, and should be looked into/amended as soon as possible because of the unfairness of it.

I know a lot of people will probably sneer at me for snitching, but I'd rather not get nailed for bug abuse.

Also the two guns used were volt and umbra driver.

You may mistake it with a techinque called shield cancelling.

When gun can shoot 3 bullets and after third it must reload people use it to avoid reloading time:
-they shoot 1st and 2nd bullet, then they wait a bit or do shield cancel and fire again 1st and 2nd bullet again to avoid reload after 3rd

The other way to do its with weapon swap.

They shoot 1st and 2nd bullet of gun 1 and then swap to gun 2 and shoot 1st and 2nd bullet, the swap to first. They aviod this way reloading gun.

I never believed in "shield cancelling". I think that hardly justifies what this guy was doing. Just because you can do something to make yourself attack faster doesn't mean that was the intention of the coders when they made this beautiful game.

also don't insult my intelligence, this game is only 2 years old

It's a mechanic of the game not a bug. It's been in the game since beta and loudly proclaimed all over the forums.

I will protest this "mechanic" of the game for as long as it exists. I firmly believe that people should not be allowed to do this.

Hmm, sounds like you ran into me or Seiran at some point.

This is a quirk of the game that became a feature. Similar to wavedashing in Smash Brothers, shield canceling and weapon switching are techniques that may not have been intentionally designed by the developers, but were discovered by players, adopted by the community and (implicitly) condoned by the developers. This is because they add depth and skill levels to the game; removing it would be a terrible mistake.

Anyway, anything that adds variety to LD to break the monotony of skolver clones is a welcome breath of fresh air imo. If there were really an imbalance, we would see a lot more gunner recons running around... but we don't.

Shield Canceling is a eligable-technique. It works with Swords, Guns and even Bombs(won't be useful for bombs). Therefore, switching weapons are still usable in terms of shield canceling.

The Gunslinger Guide has also posted this kind of trick, Don't be the 1% dude to complain, mash up yer skills and learn! ^^

Weapon Switching (Two guns)

When using a pair of mobile guns (able to move while firing), most commonly Alchemers, it is possible to skip the reload and cooldown timers altogether. Fire the first gun and immediately hit switch weapon or weapon 2, wait a beat for the second weapon to come into ready position, and fire. Once you have a grasp of the rhythm needed, add shield canceling so that your actions are now as follows: fire-switch-shield-fire-switch-shield. While the extra action increases the difficulty of maintaining a good rhythm, it will also increase your rate of fire. Note that your timing will be slightly different depending on how much ASI you have, so adjust accordingly. Though it takes a little practice to get the rhythm down, this is an essential technique for a damage gunner. Immobilizing guns such as Callahan can also benefit, but because the immobility is part of a long attack animation that is unaffected, the effect is less dramatic. When used with guns with larger magazines, multiple rounds can be fired before switching, as long as you do not use the last shot in your magazine.

Weapon Switching (One gun)

Weapon switching for faster fire rate can also be accomplished with only one gun. Conceptually, it work identical to dual weapon switching, absent the firing of the second weapon. Depending on the method you use for weapon switching, this may be a fairly simple transition.
