Obviously yes. I've FSC dozens of times with swiftstrike, and sometimes I don't even shieldbump. Don't really need to if you have smart planning and stun vials (most underrated item in the game IMO). I'm not even that good, It's kinda on and off.

@Serell: I wouldnt say FSC is the easiest thing ever,since snarby is,and the twins are a close second....but yes,it is quite easy.
Im sure you could go without a shield in many different situations,but Id have to say its close to impossible to go without a shield in C42.That place is worse than FSC in my oppinion...

Tbh the one thing I would miss more than anything is shield-cancelling attacks.
If you have no shield then you have to go through the full attack animation of whatever you do. AND THAT IS A PAIN.

Friends of mine have done FSC without a shield, I've one accidentally even done it myself once because I forgot to bring a shield (complicated story, don't ask)

Personally I'd find the lack of shield annoying - I wouldn't be able to start charging without the attack, and I wouldn't be able to shield cancel. The lack of shield-bump ability would be a slightly less major issue, and in t1 and t2 I could probably do okay without the ability to block attacks. You'd definitely be fine in t3 Wolver Dens with a Dark Briar Barrage, though. I've tried that much.

To be honest, I rarely use a shield other than the Swiftstrike Buckler these days. Unless I'm doing Crimson Hammer, Legion of Almire, or C42, I only use Swiftstrike. It's easy to dodge monsters once you learn how they attack. So, not using a shield is not only possible, but preferred in my opinion.

The Swifty can take, in the mission version's RJP 1st floor, 1 lumber hit head-on. Then you die slowly and painfully.

Never bothered me. I've carried entire parties through the RJP whilst using a Swifty. How? I can dodge like a boss (Chrishin got there before me).
It is possible to go shieldless in Snarby and take no damage, because even the Snarby has attack patterns.
In conclusion: If you can do bosses with little/no shield, then Yes, it is possible.

the challenge
The big challenge with using no shield is that you can't shield-cancel attacks. It's terribly noticeable if you use heavy swords or use switch techniques.
I pulled C42 with swiftstrike fairly easily, but that's using guns. There's no way I could have done nearly as well if I didn't have a shield at all. It's incomparable.
Though, as someone who plays Recon almost religiously in Lockdown, guns are a lot more mobile/viable for safety when shield breaks (exactly the same as not having a shield). Shield cancelling doesn't really do much for them other than let you move earlier, since shooting too often will force you to reload anyway.
If you know how to switch-shoot, you can get a sliiiightly faster-than-normal fire rate by just shooting and swapping weapons, but nothing nearly as fast as if you did have a shield.
