Like the title says, which one would be more suited for Shadow Lair Snarbolax?

Also, I'm trying to make a Snarby Set, and would thus have an Ash tail set beforehand. Would it be better to wear that for the piercing defense in the lair, or should I stick with my other 5* Vog Set for ASI increase?

I'd recommend Skolver + BTS.

Remember to have the Ash Tail set at level 10 ;)

that wasn't an option

Zolota, Skolver wasn't an option. But Mistr, Skolver is great armor, that you will want to have someday. I'm not sure about Vog Cub vs. Ash Tail. It's hard to tell how defenses actually scale up in this game.

I tend to recommend CoA over BTS for first-time attempts at SGWW. There are a lot of howlitzers and kats spewing projectiles, and the updated wolver AI is easily dodged, so I find a shadow shield much more useful than a piercing shield. The only aspect that makes me hesitate is BTS' offensive bonus.

The fact that you have no shadow armor makes the case for CoA even stronger. I guess I'd recommend one piece of Vog Cub, one piece of Ash Tail, and CoA?

But you'll need an extra material if you want to make whole snarby set on one run! Small advice just in case you missed that.

Don't forget to get plenty of

Don't forget to get plenty of CE, and check wiki for other materials needed for both recipes. It'd be stupid to go down there just to find out you don't have enough dark shards.

I always use the Crest. Its easier to deal with Wolvers than the hordes of undead, IMO. I mainly use my shield to block Howitzer shots in the midst of dealing with more undead.

CoA v BTS

CoA:
Pro:
Shadow protection

Con:
No peircing protection
Hard to get

BTS:
Pro:
Peircing protection
Slightly easier to get
Sword damage bonus

Con:
No shadow defense
You shouldn't be getting hit by wolvers anyways if you want to do an sl so peircing defense is useless

My preference:
CoA

Although they both have normal damage resistance and BTS has sword damage bonus, no shadow resistance on my BTS caused my frist SL to be a disaster (i made it through though... barely)

Afterwords i went with a crest of almire, it was significantly better.

VOG V My Suggestion

Vog, it has fire and elemental resist. this is practically useless for the SL.

I suggest grabbing a Dread Skelly helm and a Skoalver coat

Normal resist in an SL is a must for boss and after boss fights

Shadow resist is a must for Snarby SL because there are alot of undead practically more undead then wovlers

When you beat it i suggest a snarby set with skoalver coat or helm if your still worried about peircing.

BTS

My experience, YMMV:
My first run through SL Snarby was with CoA, the twin Snarbys (and snarby before that) tore it to shreds and caused deaths.
My next run was with BTS and had no trouble with shadow dmg during the run or snarbys at the end.
This is with an aggressive playing style of dodge & kill stuff as quick as possible. I suppose I'm used to dodging everything else except for snarbys. If it matters I solo FSC with a swiftstrike. Guess what works for you depends on your play style. For me, BTS.
