How often do you like to change your weapon styles?

I'm just curious since I got the Troika a few days ago. It requires a different mindset than a Calibur, I noticed. Calibur knights often tend to charge in and slap [scrap] up left and right because its faster attack speed opens room for that, but with the Troika and its 2-hit combo, that's most of the time not a good stratergy.

If I wasn't clear, I meant switching from a gunslinger to a swordsman or something similar. In my case, switching from Calibur to Troika.
Love the ridiculous damage it has, though.

Using both swords can be

Using both swords can be awesome after getting weapon slot upgrades and trinket slot upgrades, just to fill yer fun out, but since ye might be new, starting out with any of those swords ye like are nice.

It depends on yer playing style, ye know. Troika can knock back and reset's enemies motive(action) after the second hit, so does the Calibur on third hit. I strongly recommend using Calibur as it's charge attack can knock back further, while Troika's charge attack takes too much time. Note that using Calibur can be sabotage sometimes, as the knockback might cause some enemies not to reset their actions and probably bump to party members and hit them. (also goes with shield bumping)

Every weapon has it's pros and cons. Likewise, it depends on yer playing style. ^q^

All the time.

I have a ridiculously large variety of weapons, most of which are not yet 5*. I like to experiment with pure damage bombs, haze bombs, heavy swords, light swords, medium swords, large-clip guns, small-clip guns, exploding ragefesting guns, lightsabers, hammers and swords that shoot bullets.
I still lack a crowbar, though. ._.

With heavy swords, I normally end up shield-cancelling the second swing, unless I'm fighting large jellies with a Gran Faust/zombies with a Divine Avenger and I know I can interrupt their attacks. Medium swords such as Acheron have the first two swings used before cancelling, most of the time. Toothpicks only get the first swipe used, which I tend to find is the safest way of getting rid of fiends. Beast are the only monsters I regularly use the full combo on.

By the way: how useful do people find the Rocket Hammer series' charge? I'm curious as to how much it gets used in gameplay.

The charge? I occasionally

The charge? I occasionally will use it on the first part of an arena. Even with a previous ctr UV, the charge was simply *pretty darned bad.*

I use it more for pushing people across barriers/onto elevators.

P.S. I did not know you posted so much in these subforums, Aureate >.<

@Etendue: I get around far too much. :B
Yeah, personally I found the charge to be pretty much useless verging on suicidal unless you're fighting something that's a) stationary and b) doesn't hit back. There is absolutely nothing in Spiral Knights that falls under these two categories, unless you count Love Puppies and Mewkats, in which case you murderer.

...I think I used the charge exactly once on a group of Dust Zombies in LoA.
I wasn't aware that the pushback also worked for allies as well as enemies, though.

(If anyone else can come up with uses for the Rocket Hammer charge, I would be much obliged to hear them.)

Often. I have all the guns, 6

Often.
I have all the guns, 6 swords, and 3 bombs at 5*, as well Chaos, which I wear almost everywhere. Recently I've messing around with pure swords, but I usually take a gun or two along. I still need to learn to bomb better, because I rarely take them out of my arsenal nowadays.

The Hammer charge is meh. It's great for clusters of zombies where you have room in front of you, but mostly I just it to troll teammates. If you land on someone with the first smash, you'll scootch them forward with you for the 2nd smash.

The pushback applies to

The pushback applies to allies on the second hit. Make sure they're right next to you before you make the second strike, and you'll "pull" them along.

It solves a lot of problems involving afk players. Also, it lets you give them a helpful push onto deadly obstacles (I haven't personally done this before). Apparently it's good for when you have a lot of afkers and want heat.

Also, get on skype :D

Yes sir D<
Also, I'll have to experiment with the suction effect. Should be fun to play with in ATH for the time being.

When I bring Rocket Hammer to IMF (this has been every time since I got the hammer), I ready the charge when I see a missile about to hit, then slam it loose as the head gets exposed. Roarmies hit by missiles are stationary and do not attack.

As for the original post, I was a pure bomber until I decided to try a Pulsar since I already had a capacitor and my Roarmie coins were overflowing. It got me interested in using guns. Rocket Hammer did something similar for swords as I'd previously only used Calibur. Not extremely sold on swords, though, but I'll get one of each damage type eventually.
