Recently I had to switch to a slower connection. So now it takes a bit longer to load the game but I don't really mind. It is kind of awkward explaining to the folks waiting on me though, who has no way of knowing when I'll spawn - if I am even afk or not.

Yesterday, we had this idea. It would be really neat if the GMs could add in something to show how much a player has loaded. Maybe a variation of the code to show the damage received points on top of the players. Like 34%.. 56%.. 84%

That or showing the loading screen percentage beside player tab - but that'll mean extra animation.

I think this could really a useful little feature for the players, helping prevent some of the conflict that takes place at the start of the mission. What do you guys think?

Regardless of your suggestion, can you tell me what the arcade is in full detail? Just curious.

This wont change that fact...... but anyone can tell who's afk and who's loading according to their pose.

The loading isnt an exact constant.

Maybe you'll wait for the guy because he's loading fast... but BAM, it gets stuck at 80%.
Or you leave the poor guy because it seems to load too slow, but suddenly, his speed increases.

Loading isnt just connection, but your computer working.
Meassure the speed of the client alone, then try again but with some other random programs open in the background.

Thats why I say the time will fluctuate, depending on what your pc is doing.

Thread starter

Thank you all for your feedback and the suggestions regarding RAM. I have taken a lot of measures to speed it up, believe you me. From taskmanager disabling unnecessary processes, thumbnail and desktop disabling, uninstallation spree to page memory tampering. But in the end, low RAM and so-so connection is low RAM and so-so connection. But we're digressing. This thread wasn't about my problems :P

Still, don't you think this simple addition is worth investing into? True, there is already a system for that; people can easily tell from that pose. But there are times when a few people do forget about it (probably some who are new to the game) and it ends up confusing them. I myself had five or six such instances so far. My teammates thought I had gone afk and was going all rage at the prospect of soloing JK ^ ^'

You guys are right, it wouldn't solve any problems. People would still get kicked from parties, but the game could do with more er, blatant indications for loading players. Heh, there could be glowly attacking energy circles around the player. That wouldn't need any new codes as it is already in the game mechanics. And it would end up giving a teleported vibe too.

True..

True, but you can't exactly see what you're typing. Or messages from other people. You can't even tell if the message you entered was even sent or not. Thank you for bringing up this issue though. If the devs could look into this, the communication among players would resolve a lot of the things we've talked about. Instead of waiting around, they could spend the time discussing the level with the loading players.

Something just occurred to me now though, which effectively steam-rolls every idea we've discussed so far. There would be no need to painstakingly make all those changes if this single, simple addition can be made instead. The players who loads up earlier has to wait on loading players on the party circle, right? What if, loading players can be treated like dead players? We'd never have to see another start up drama again, making a lot of players happy players. With this the players with faster connections can simply proceed ahead and the still loading players can join them later, starting from the party circle.

Not too long ago there was a petition for adding another Asian server. Wouldn't simply addressing the issues faced by slower loading players be a better solution?
