Pure Piercing, elemental, or shadow defense?

After reading through Nick's interview with SEGA radio, I couldn't help but notice the addition of new gear. As soon as I read this, I immediately thought of the possibility of having helms/armours with ONLY one of the following defences: Piercing, elemental, and shadow. There should be about the same amount of defence as the normal defence on the Ancient Plate Helm and Armor. I believe that this could revive the decrepit Ancient Plate Set, because it would allow for the high normal defence of the ancient plate helm/mail to be used with one of the other pure defences in high amounts as well. This should create balanced defence stats as much as the Skolver, Vog, Snarby sets etc. In terms of status resists, the piercing set could have stun and freeze resists. Elemental set could have fire and shock resist. Shadow set could have poison and curse resist. Ohh yeah, don't forget the negative sleep resistance as well ;). Each helm/armour piece would also provide an extra 3+ health, just like the ancient plate set, over all other 5* helm/armour pieces. As well as this, I believe a low reduction in movement speed for each piece would be necessary for balancing, but not attack speed. Your thoughts on this are appreciated!

I highly doubt that this will be implemented in the next gear/item update, since I have seen no one suggest this on the forums, but maybe the GM's could implement this in the future, perhaps?

Cheers,
Sorb

Most monsters still do a fraction of normal damage. Depends on the ratios and the type of enemy, but pure defense might actaully be bad on some cases, while overpowered in others. Seems hard to find a balance.

Also, even if levels have a predominant theme, there's always 1 or 2 enemies that stand out (wolvers and slimes in FSC). Having some normal guarantees a little defense in such cases.

Sounds like that's already a balance.

Some items are decent everywhere; others are great in some situations, awful in others. We consider the second category to also be balanced, don't we?
