I suggest three buttons: An attack/action button for those who want to keep them on the same key, and separately mapped attack and action buttons for those who don't want to die due to picking up keys instead of fighting. This is not a major issue by any means, but at times, it would be nice to be able to approach a key in battle without fearing it interrupts your attacks.
Separate attack and action buttons
Make keys act like minerals in the back. It may make some situations easier (d25 wheel room?), but it isnt too serious.
Being as defenceless as a noob in proto who doesn't know how to shield in T3 because you're carrying a key is a pain in the arse.
Maybe do the same for picking up Nature Sprites, Water Globes and Grim Totems too?
yeah i hate when i pick up something instead of atking.

why are the keys so big anyway? and no keyhole is that big! and you dont even put the key in the keyhole. you just throw it at the door and it 'magicaly' opens. strange.
when u start ur attack combo and in the middle of the process, u do not get interrupted buy anything unless a monster attacked u. only at the beginning of ur combo u can be interrupted near a key or some other item that is able to be picked up.
