Since it is too late to change the way this week’s events were handled by both OOO and the player base the emphasis should be placed on the future. I am disappointed that OOO didn't pull the plug on the server and then try to figure out what was wrong. I am also disappointed that the player base took advantage of the situation in the manner that they did. (If people didn't suspect something was wrong then why did such a large portion of those crowns get laundered into punch and the AH so quickly? Only the players who were on and had wealth at their disposal could benefit the most from the situation)
I suggest OOO program a way to shut down the AH and CE exchange independently for the next time something like this happens. I am not a programmer so have no idea how it could be done, but imagine how minimal the damage would have been if someone at OOO could have paused the AH and CE exchange while they tracked down the problem. The individual would have been limited to in game trades that take time to complete, and the impact would be as minimal as possible to all non-involved parties.
I agree, we need to look forward on this kind of issue, it'll probably happen again. This seems like a good way to contain damage, even if it doesn't eliminate it.
