No. If you want CE, you will have to pay for it in crowns, USD, and/or time.

There is an alternative!
OOO has, in the past, done Twitter and Facebook contest/promo things that might include CE in them!
(Note: This is not a terribly practical way to acquire CE.)

There is, but if you do not support OOO there will be no game. So as much as it is good to work out good ways to make CE whilst playing the game, it is good to support the people who continue to develop the game you are playing :-)
