So I was talking to my officer the other day and I had noticed that in lockdown my damage bonus was at max and my asi was at very high. I had told him I was going to get myself a skolver cap or a snarbolax cap just to amp up my damage bonus beyond max. He told me that even if it was a medium damage bonus it would not make a difference because max is the highest you can go in this game. So as much as that makes sense I'm a bit confused because when our heat gauge reaches maximum we can still get more heat regardless and heat our weapons far more than just at the regular maximum. As confusing as this sounds I just want to know one thing.
If I do get a skolver cap will my maximum damage bonus increase or stay the same as it is now?
Read the wiki page "Abilities", to understand how offensive bonuses add, and how they do not go beyond +6, which is called Maximum!.
The page also discusses defensive bonuses, and explains how those can go past Maximum! (which is +4), and how they can extend beyond the end of the displayed bars. My point is that the rules of Spiral Knights are a bit inconsistent in how "maximum" is treated. You have to learn a separate rule for each aspect of the game. Fortunately, "Abilities" explains all of them I think.
