Personally I think going with the Gran Faust would be the best alternative. The Brandish line in my opinion is more suitable than the Divine Avenger because of its charge attack. Not only does it inflict a status (regarding you don't get the Caultery Sword or Nightblade) but the explosions make up for the fact that it goes in a straight line. I would prefer a Gran Faust over the Nightblade line because of its curse. Realistically you would only be using the GF or Nightblade against Jellies or Gremlins and neither of them move fast compared to them darn Kats and Phantoms.
This is just my suggestion, the choice is yours to make =)

You need an elemental sword. So the default answer is DA.
However, I prefer a Brandish over DA for an elemental weapon, and GF over DA for a heavy weapon.

You already have a shadow weapon so I'd definitely go with an elemental weapon. The choice between the DA or something from the Brandish line really should come down to personal preference (They're both great swords). You already have experience with a Brandish line sword; if you like it why not go for another. Otherwise, if you're in the mood for something different, go with the DA.
Where you plan on farming also should play a part in your decision. I personally prefer the DA when farming FSC.

I say DA
If you plan on doing FSCoften then DA would be good for now. Your nightblade is ok on its own for slimes and such, especially if you like to charge a lot.

Get voltedge. It outclasses the DA by its charge attack. Knockback + shock. Your probably gonna need to grind in FSC so voltedge would be perfect for that. Also it's good for one shotting people in LD.

What about glacius?
I suggest glacius. Same thing with voltedge, but freeze. If u like FSC get a da. If u like jelly king get gf. But if u like Ld, get a glacius and a gf. Getting da and glacius for LD would be weird. For LD u can charge up glacius, freeze the guy then gf combo him. Voltedge has shock but shock u can escape.

DA if you don't have other elemental sword alternatives. Monster that are weak against element damage are more common.
