It's the same crap.

Let me put an example with small numbers.
WRH deals 100 pure elemental damage to a zombie
a DA agaisnt the same zombie will deal 70 elemental and 30 normal == 100 total

In fact, pure weapons, have the "drawback" of doing less damage to resistant enemies. The cake is a lie:p

Little-Juances is right. Pure damage weapons are completely inferior to half and half weapons. They do the same amount of damage to weak monsters and neutral monsters, however they do reduced damage to resistant weapons.

Because of that, I would suggest a plan similar to your suggestion; turn all brandishes into pure specialized weapons that would deal the same amount of damage to weak monsters as they do now. Swords shouldn't be the only class to have split damage weapons.

There's a pure Elemental sword. Rocket Hammer.

Split damage is more versatile, as Little-Juances and Oatmonster said.

Aye, hasn't it been shown

Aye, hasn't it been shown that half/half damage weapons actually deal the exact same amount of damage to weak enemies as pure damage weapons do?

But

Multiplier is higher when pure damage, due to all damage multiplying and not just a part when hitting an enemy weak to the damage type.

So, actually if they were same base damage:
WRH against Zombie > 100*2= 200 dmg
DA against Zombie > (50*2) + 50= 150 dmg
*2 being multiplier due to damage weakness.

The actual reason is because they would be far too powerful. But well, that is why there is a pay to win weapon called the Hammer. (not) Coming soon to buy with CE outside Steam! - Avaiable now in Asian servers, along with the only true damaging shadow bomb, Dark Retribution!

...

Although in PvP, pure weapons do more damage, because all armor is split Normal/Stat (With some exceptions, but none are purely of one defense)

See: Final Flourish, WRH...

@Aumir, That's not true. The increase in damage for both split and pure damage weapons is around 130%.

@OP

I'm all for pure damage actually.
Pure shadow, pure elemental, pure piercing and pure normal. After all, split damage guns were an issue... split damage BOMBS were an issue... Why not give the swords an issue too?

Heck, while we're at it, swords are too bomb and gun-like. Why not nerf the range and make the swords give loads of KB?

After all, I can't have a bomb that shrapnels out to people because that's "too gun like" why can a sword shoot out not 1 but 3 projectiles?

/end spite

In all seriousness though, if you're gonna nerf something, or a set style (see also: winmillion, pre-nerf RSS, piercing/special guns) of weapon... be thorough for chrissake.

Course, I'm to the point that Xbox Live and Gears/COD looks mighty pretty right now 'tis a low point at that rate.

What?

Pure swords would make a weapon weaker.

Put the Nightblade as example, Normal and Shadow damage. Leave it as it is, it works with non-shadow resistant monsters (shadow damage) and also with shadow-resistant monsters (normal damage). Take the normal away, and it becomes weak against shadow-resistant monsters.

Adding a "Shadich Calibur" will screw up the Calibur's alchemy path, making it like a Brandish. Speaking of Brandish, making it pure elemental? It wasn't elemental in the first place.

P.S. Your English sucks, go back to school.

Agree with the poster above.

@Op,If your making pure sword, how are you going to kill those monsters that had resistant to those element(shadow, element, piercing, normal)?
For example, zombie resistant to shadow and you only bought a pure shadow archeron and a pure shadow gun. o.O how ya gonna kill them?Because take out the normal, the damage that you dealt will result in "zero" because they had pure resistant to those element.See the fact now?
