K so i'm mixing and matching trying to find a good way of having both elemental and shadow defs and came to the conclusion of having Nameless hat with Shadowsun slicker. Is this a good idea? Should I reconsider? And wat shield options are there? I looked on the wiki and saw no shadow lair stuff for gunners so that's kinda a bummer.

That's perfectly fine as you

That's perfectly fine as you can accomodate missing stats with trinkies just fine. The gunner sets can be easily mixed and matched, especially if you have UVs. As for the SL, gunners shouldn't need much of a set if you're competent at dodging. I ran it my first SL in shadowsun, seerus and swifty and did fine. You can worry aobut UVs or family costumes for later SLs once you've finished your primary set.

@brady

I think he was lamenting the fact that there isnt anything purely guncentric to look forward to making in the lairs then looking for a loadout.

Ofc you could be one step ahead and trolling and I could be captain obvious....*scratches head*

shields

Yes, Nameless with Shadowsun is a good set. But many gunners feel that they don't need every kind of damage protection, because of their inherently defensive playstyle. So consider just getting double Shadowsun. Or get damage trinkets. The damage bonuses that armor and trinkets give you are extremely valuable, in that they apply to all six monster families, Vanaduke, and PvP.

For shields, many gunners use the highly offensive Swiftstrike Buckler. If its defense is too poor for you, then go with any strong defensive shield. The popular choices are Grey Owlite for elemental, Crest of Almire for shadow, Volcanic Plate Shield for normal, and something for piercing other than BTS. ;)

When Shadow Lairs were released (about a year ago now) the lack of rewards for gunners caused a lot of complaints.
