Full-On Offensive set

Recently, I thought of a high-risk, pure offense set and I need some feedback on what I can correct. This is trying to utilize the Chaos to it's fullest extent.

Chaos Cowl
Chaos Cloak
Combuster (CTR Low)
Final Flourish (ASI Low)
Acheron (CTR Low)
Electron Vortex (CTR Low)
Swiftstrike Buckler

The UVs obviously don't cost much, which helps as they're cheap and stack. This whole set alone should should have the following: CTR Ultra for Brandish lines, CTR Ultra for the bomb, ASI Very High for all swords, and DMG Med for everything. Just with this set, I'm already on the offensive. And I can either fix up the damage bonus to Max! with a couple trinkets, fix up my health with some pentas, or go half and half. This is mainly for PvE, and is like a low budget Striker, not counting the trinkets.

Anything I can improve on?

Blitz Needle or Barbarous Thorn Blade are worth considering over the flourish if you really want to squeeze every drop of value out of the chaos set's CTR reduction. BTB's a lot tougher to get a good UV on, though.

minor correction

I think I understand why you're going for CTR on Brandishes and ASI on Flourishes. But you end up with ASI+4 on the FF and only ASI+3 on the other weapons.

If possible, you should aim for +2 UVs because then you can max things out better. But then they are more expensive (because everyone thinks this way). For PvE, don't bother with health trinkets. Just go for even more offense.

It's a nice loadout. If you wanted to mix in some guns, the obvious choice would be alchemers, whose charge attacks are pretty powerful.

Edit: I disagree with Orbwanter about FF/BTB charges. FF's charge is just as good, in my opinion.

@Orbwanter It's FF's charge attack I'll be spamming, since it's single target.

@Bopp I plan on getting +2 UVs eventually actually after I finish everything. So what would be the most ideal UVs on my chaos set?I know they only counter the negative to a minuscule extent, but it definitely helps. I was thinking Poison, Fire, and Shock High/Max? That'll probably cost me the most, and would be the last thing to do.

shock, freeze; maybe stun, fire

On armor I especially value shock and freeze UVs. Those statuses are the ones that trap you and end up killing you. If you're also doing PvP, and you find stun to be a problem, then go for that too. In PvE, when you get stunned, you can often avoid the monsters anyway. For example, trojans patiently wait for you to recover. Fire UVs are also desirable, due to FSC and Fang of Vog.

I rarely find that being poisoned ruins my play. When poisoned in Compound 42, I might take a while to kill a polyp, but I'm interrupting it the whole time, so I make it through without breaking down in tears.

I'd definitely mix in guns.

I'd definitely mix in guns. Right now it looks as if you're ditching your Wolver set for Chaos purely to boost your single bomb in a 3-sword loadout; not a great hybrid mix imo. Two swords, gun and bomb work nicely with Chaos, as everything gets some use. You'd want a charge gun, in all likelihood; Hail Driver is nice for LD for teh charge, Stormy for CW; could probably replace the Combuster and still keep your shadow/pierce swords for a mix.

Otherwise, it's good. Good to see Chaos sets being used by folk; scarier than you'd think when used right~

The whole point of this loadout is to reach the most damage without trinkets. And even with damage bonus med, I'm still hitting hard. If anything, adding trinkets could be overkill.

no, not overkill

No, maxxing out your damage bonus is not overkill. You need it to one-shot-kill trojans in a party, to kill mini-jellies in two strokes instead of three, etc. I recommend that you follow your original plan, and use trinkets to increase your damage bonuses.

I see what yah mean. Brady already advised a gun, and seeing how all CW depths usually carry only two families, I can replace one sword. Would prismatech also work though? Just in case I find the Hail's ice breaking too much in conjunction with the bomb or just breaking with its own charge. And Storm is covered, since it keeps enemies in place for a moment, interrupts, and damages a little. The reason I say Prismatech over others is because I'm trading status for damage.

sure

Yes, you can definitely replace a sword with a gun. This is probably a more optimal setup than carrying all three swords at once, because it is rare that you use all three swords in a single level, as you suggested. So get all of those swords, but on any given level replace the sword you need least with a nice gun. And Nova Driver is one of my favorite guns. The charge is great.

(I often carry three swords, and nothing else, just because I don't feel like switching equipment on every level. Also, until arsenal stations were introduced, we couldn't switch equipment on every level, and I got used to that. Also, using only swords is sometimes challenging, and I enjoy the challenge.)

I'm trading status for

I'm trading status for damage.

I just want to point out that the damage difference between the status and pure alchemers is pretty small. People prefer Blitz over Pepper/Plague because Blitz hits for like triple the damage, but the pure alchs only actually hit for about 15% more, at most. Oftentimes, the fire/shockspread from Storm/Magma can actually more than make up for this damage, if you ricochet well and don't get unlucky with inflicts.
