I am so tired of my childish name so here is my suggestion
Allow us to buy a name changer at the Haven bazaar for only 50k crowns
So people on your friends' list might not recognize you thats why for everyone that changes their name, it gives their friends an instant message saying that they changed their name
Please allow this because my name makes me look like a... I can't even describe it
too many irrelevant threads pop up when i try to search and 50k crowns is expensive to the newbies that want to change their name but if you want i can boost it up to 100k.
If they are indeed newbies they can start a new knight for free with minimal loss.
Instant messages is silly if you're busy killing stuff or not online at all when it happens. We have mails for that.
And a little extravagant, but rich people can troll by cursing/scamming/whatever then change names and avoid reports. Or what if you change names, then I steal it and do bad things before you have a chance to explain it.
It's not something to take lightly. Requires some security checks and safeguards.
I want to change my name but it won't be possible, I don't think we'll ever get name changers. Sorry.
If you gave yourself name you didn't like too bad. Make an alt with a name you'll like to stick with and use that instead. Simple. Not so hard. Also I agree with Juances. I will be hassle to have a troll constantly changing his/her identity which will be hard to report because it will cause A LOT of confusion. It will just be a wild goose chase. An annoying one.
Keep that in mind.
Then make it a fairly high price for doing it, like 10 dollars or something, so it's worth changing perhaps ONCE. Because when your handle changes, moving your gear to another knight is completely uneconomic. If you disincentivize players being able to change their name frequently, by either a time limit, maybe, 6 months per change, or a high price, like 10 dollars per name change, there's no reason not to add the option.
Yeah exactly. One name change every 6 months. Costs 1000 CE. Previous name appears underneath name and above guildname as (oldnamehere). Problem Solvered
Hell, even 1000 CE would be a fine job. The only REAL problem would this would be abuse, and that can be allayed with a time limit from the last name change. Ignore lists could be updated with the new name, stats wouldn't change, and neither would the player's unique ID, just a visual name change.
The problem with that is, the ignore list isn't stored on the server. I'm almost certain the 1000 CE/50k crown system combined with the 6 month interval between name changes is sure to ward off trolls from needlessly changing their names in order to get around an ignore. For those desperate people, however, the ignore list can be altered to store two strings: The person's current name and former name. If the former name matches the current name of someone who is on your ignore list, the info is updated.
The ignore list isn't based on names, it's based on user IDs, so regardless of whether or not the player's name was changed, the ID remains static. One less problem to worry about.
That'd be fine and dandy if I didn't have hundreds of dollars worth of gear left on the account I want to change.
Do you know how expensive swapping all that gear is?
