Hello, I am new at Spiral Knights and I have progressed rather quickly through the game. I am currently Knight Rank and am stuck at Prestige 5-2. I have done all the "speaking" missions, but when I do the other three missions, I keep dying.
This is my current equipment (I do not have a lot)
-Ash Tail Cap Lv 5 no UV
-Ash Tail Coat Lv 5 no UV
-Dark Thorn Sheild Lv 5 no UV
-Nightblade Lv 5 no UV
-Shock Brandish Lv 6 no UV
I really want to beat the Jelly King and get the catalyst and pulsar, but I keep dying.
Also, I would like some tips on how to be more...whats the word... conservative with my CE
I have spent a total of $40 buying two 7500 CE but wasted 3000 CE on reviving.
I currently have 802 CE because of the current trade rate of CE and CR
Any tips?
(PS IM A STEAM MEMBER AND I NEED A GUILD)
Jelly Run (armor choice)
First of all, you don't get the Pulsar or Catalyzer by beating the Royal Jelly, those come from the Roarmulus Twins, a later boss.
Your gear is perfect for clearing RJP. If you're dying that much, you really need to learn how to dodge, shield, and shield-bump to avoid damage. In Tier 2 and beyond, you can't afford to tank hits, even against attacks you resist. Avoid using the last hit of your combo if it would leave you open for retaliation, as it tends to leave you unable to move or shield for a second.
And never spend more than 10-20 CE on revives unless you're in a Shadow Lair.
So, a few points to address :
- first is your gear choice. Well, it's perfect! You literraly have nothing to change, except update your swords to 4*, which should probably have been done before the rest (generally, upgrade weapons, then shield then armor). You'll need a gun, so yes pulsar is a good option (don't get the catalyzer though), but this one comes from the Twins, which is later on on the missions, but can still be accessed from the arcade, if you want it sooner! In case you really want a gun right know, look at the alchemers. Especially, if you have trouble, a cryo alchemer to have some freeze sometime.
- second, being conservative on energy. That's actually a good point, 3000CE is WAY TOO MUCH REVIVES. You should try to NEVER use an energy revive unless everyone in your team is dead, which leads to the next point
- you need good friends and/or a guild. Doing the missions alone is HARD and unforgiving. On the other hand, if you are not alone, in case you die someone can revive you in exchance of their health, which is a good deal! Reviving dead players should also be very high on your priority list (just after not dying). To find a guild, I suggest you head to the guild recruitment forum. There are tons of friendly guilds here which will be happy to help you.
- last but not least : train yourself to dodge and shield. Early on, in T1, you can literally only attack and have no problem going through anything. You are now in T2, and this is beginning to chance, you'll start to have some defensive reflex. It becomes way worse in T3, with more dangerous attacks both in complexity and damage. You won't be able to run in T3 before you are able to shield or dodge the majority of the attacks.
Try this:
Armor + Helm: 3*
Gun: Volt 3*
Sword: Nightblade or Calibur 3*
Shield: 3*
--
1. U will use the gun on trees and most of the jelly from far away, and your gun can shock the Jelly King.
2. Then try charging those 2 swords for best effect against crowds (both have knock back, though calibur have better knock back which affect enemies all aroudn u, nightblade deals shadow but knock back only in front of u)
3. Try to shove the jellies away with shield. The Shot-shield-shot method works well with Volt 3* in this case.
Later on, buy a antigua, then buy Silver six recipe, make Silver six and u can replace your gun. It fires fast enough to kill trees (weak to elemental damage) and most of the slimes (neutral to elemental damage)
Hope this helps.
Spend 30 CE to hire a player with the best gear to help you through the mission and teach you how to play.
I can help!
And you shouldn't even revive yourself with CE.
And I have skills muh proof.
Beat RJP with the following
Armour
Spiral demo helm level 10 2*
Wolver coat level 10 2*
Shield
The one regarding the update 3*
Swords
Shockburst brandish level 8 3*
Shadowtech alchemer 2*
No. of deaths. 3

...hell, get in touch with me when I'm online and I'll do the run with you if you tab me.
Generally it's best to wait for someone else to revive you if they're still alive and with reasonably high health, since this will save your energy costs considerably. You also want to save up Shock, Fire, Poison and Curse vials if you can find them, as well as the standard Health Capsules. Finding someone with a Faust-line sword is one of the best options, since that gives you a permanent (if dangerous) source of Curse.
Also, the Roarmulus Twins drop Bark Modules, which are what get you the following, with each of the weapons being 15 tokens and the armours being 20 each:
- Pulsar
- Catalyser
- Static Capacitor
- Quicksilver Helm/Mail
The Royal Jelly drops Jelly Gems, which give you the rewards below; Rock Salt is 2 tokens, whilst the Brute set is 15 each and the weapons are both 20 apiece:
- Rock Salt
- Brute Jelly Helm, Mail and Shield
- Sealed Sword
- Antigua
Generally, Pulsars sell for a decent 300CE or so, since they require unbinding to be sold.
You're stuck at 5-2, but you have 4 star gear?
.. I think I'm not suprised too much. Maybe you should wait for a team, instead of going solo. That's my advice. I really do suggest you do that.
I still remember 1st time doing RJP run die alot, didn't go the top left key,now all smooth
Quick tips don't trust slime cube attack pattern, make enemies path perdictable, watch your foot (usually spike is random area but general near you),
Lumber? make em be your friend (no not by add to friend list) provoke lumber atk when slime on his direction(carefull)
Puppy? tame it ,don't spin arond puppy too close when he targeting you, atk after his/her shot
1st depth: left stone ,hit the ghost block about 1 or 1,5 sec after the spike on your back lift up,If you do it corect:2nd row spike is down(2nd up spike)then the 1st row spike is down to give your escape)
right stone: to make it easy clear the bushes 1st unless you like to fight on tight area
2nd depth: after get the stone and open 4 gate using switch on center,on right 2 tight area room, on left 2 halway run room,on right room try not make yourself trapped, plan escape route, SHIELD BUMP FTW
left room? o_o i'm sure you not gonna have too much prb,top left try evade from puppy sight deal the slime 1st,or charge weap and destroy 1 puppy retreat deal the slime and lumber
P,S, 2nd depth learn you to survive when fighting RJ,just like snarbolax have bell when on 1st and 2nd depth and romulus twin which have gate and missile shooting, but i didn't learn much on 4 depth before vana can anyone tell me?
Your equipment is great for swording, and your two swords are great for the Royal Jelly Palace. To be honest, your skills must be not very good. (I don't mean to offend. I'm just trying to help.) You need to be more conservative in how you attack the monsters. Practice kiting and charging your sword at the monsters. (Kiting is when you run around, making the monsters follow you.) You should be able to clear the first level of RJP without ever taking any damage. Then try to do the same on the second level.
On the first two levels of RJP, try to collect as many pills and vials as you can. Ideally, you would go into the Royal Jelly fight with three pills and nine good vials such as curse, poison, shock, fire, or stun. Try to keep the Royal Jelly poisoned (because otherwise he heals) and cursed and anything else you can manage. While he is suffering from these statuses, attack him with your sword. But don't forget to shield, and to use pills occasionally.
Improving your skill will also help you avoid reviving with energy. Also, if you party with other people, then don't revive yourself; let them revive you. Reviving with energy should be a very rare occurrence, if you play in parties.
