I was just sitting around in Haven today, thinking of setups that could be good, but no one uses.
So, I ended up thinking of the following setup.

Mercurial Helmet

Mercurial Armor

Swiftstrike Buckler

I was thinking that the medium speed boost from the armor set would be useful for kiting enemies around the clockworks, and extra ASI never hurt anyone

So, anyone with these items want to give it a shot?

EDIT: Weapons would be 2 of the following: (or more if you have the slots)

Polaris/AP
Sentenza
Blitz
Supernova

Speed boosts from mercurial

Speed boosts from mercurial sets are hardly noticeable, i believe. It's doubtful that it would make any significant difference in your kiting ability, and it'd probably be better in most cases to just use armor that directly boosts your guns.

Blah blah blah, TIDAL WAVE!

I was thinking about this when I was gunslinging at RJP. I haven't tried it but I predict it's not really gonna make much of a difference. I've used the Mercurial set while bombing and hardly noticed a difference in my movement speed. Swiftstrike is already used by most gunners for maximum ASI. Might have to try it though an see what happens.

8% speed difference works out

8% speed difference works out at 1 tile extra for every 20 tiles and as such is essentially invisible when kiting, since you won't likely be kiting a mob for the 100+ tiles it'd take to make any difference in the distance between you and your targets.

Also, Blitz would be counter-intuitive to add to a speed kiting setup as it roots you to the spot with even the regular charge. You'd want weapons like cutters, antiguas, alchemers, hazes etc.

Fact is that quicksilver set is used most often in LD and even then only really for its free shock resistance, more so than its speed bonus.

What I meant is that most

What I meant is that most people who do use the quicksilver set (or even just parts) use it in LD; virtually nobody uses it in CW.

@Forum-Brady: I use the

@Forum-Brady: I use the mercurial set in the clockworks quite often. The MSI isn't overly impressive, but it makes for a mighty fine pierce set. Looks neat too.

As for the setup, the mercurial's MSI isn't overly noticeable, so I'm not sure it would be the best armor set choice for a gunning loadout. I have not tested it out though, so I could be wrong.
