Hello, I am here to talk about a concept for a new PvP game: THE ARENA. The arena is basically a brawl where the competing players see who can survive the longest amid an endlessly spawning horde of monsters.

Costs to enter: Players must pay 500 crowns to enter a arena match.

How it works: An arena match holds a maximum of 8 players: when all the players are selected, a random pair of family themes will be chosen for the match (one of them will always be a turret-containing family) as well as a random status theme (fire, ice, shock, poison, or none). As per usual, the players have 25 seconds to bribe King Krogmo for coins and other rewards.

The arena starts with the players in various corners of the room. A "3...2...1..." countdown will go off, and 4 weak, random, non-turret monsters from the selected families and status categories will spawn in "wave 1". After these monsters have been defeated (or in 30 seconds, depending on which comes first), "wave 2" will spawn, following similar rules; note that the defeated monsters do not drop any heat or materials but may drop a maximum of 5 crowns. As the match goes on, the waves will start to become larger and more perrilous: from wave 3 onward, turrets can spawn, large monsters (trojans, lumbers, alpha wolvers, etc) will spawn after wave 5, and every 3 waves the maximum number of spawned monsters will increase by 1 until it reaches a cap of 15: no more waves will spawn until the number of monsters falls below 15. The following monsters WILL NOT spawn under any circumstances in the arena:

- ANY healing monster (Gremlin Menders, silkwings, etc)
- ANY boss monster
- ANY drone monster
- ANY monster only found with a boss (such as slag guards and perma-frostfurs)
- Lost souls (goes without explaining)
- Pit bosses (Sullivan would be very upset otherwise...not to mention they can create yes-men, who HEAL pit-bosses)
- Battlepods
- Scuttlebots (they're almost completely harmless!)
- Phantoms (You can't kill them...)
- Monsters unique to shadow lairs (Carnavons, I'm pointing at YOU!)
- Rare spawns (including love puppies)

ANY OTHER MONSTER IS FAIR GAME. Players are not necessarily, though - there would be two categories of The Arena: PvP-enabled and PvP-disabled.

Note that Krogmo will get insulted if you fail to attack any monsters during the match, even if you are in the PvP-enabled mode and are attacking players. If he gets insulted, all acquired crowns will be deprived from the offending player, and they will receive no Krogmo coins.

The victor is determined by who is alive the longest. If a player can outlive all the other players for 10 seconds without dying, they will be proclaimed the winner and will receive 1,000 crowns in addition to any they received bashing the monsters: all the other players will only receive the crowns they earned from defeating monsters, and any over 500 are given to the victorious player. If the leading player dies during the 10 seconds and no one revives, the match will be considered a draw and all crowns acquired will be distributed evenly, with no 1000-crown bonus in the picture. On a side note, crowns ARE NOT shared between players when collected directly in the arena, unlike all other areas in spiral knights.

Players can revive using energy if they do so within 10 seconds of being slain, but if they fail to do so they will be instantly teleported out of combat and turned into a spectator.

What if we Polaris spam in the corner all day? And will there be tier separations, or does every round start at T1 D0 and work its way up?

1. there should definietly be a ranking from tier 1, 2 and 3 or only 5 star players would play it or occasionally lower geared players who wants to waste money to have a good time.

2. this idea sounds pretty great, im all for it after working through some things. the kromo king getting insulted is a good rule but i rather it be not just attack but kill a monster because i feel its more clearer.

3 there should be a counter that shows how much monsters that player has killed to keep a record how good you are with a particular weapon/armor set.

4. there should not be a revive because taht would just means the one who is more likely to spend more of there mist energy/ce is most likely to win. it should just be after you die, the spctator because the nature of teh game is who survives the longest. using energy to revive seems like it defeatd that purpose.

5. there should be a special prevalege that the top player receives, that way players will be more competative to reach the top player. i sugest that players do not recive crowns and instead only mats while fighitng and only at the end can the crowns award given to that player(s). the mats thast are awarded are based on tier, tier 1 gives 0 to 1 star, tier 2 gives 2 to 3 star mats and tier 3 gives 4 to 5 star mats.

6. i say players because i dont think this match should last that long so that if many players want to play, they wont have to wait that long. so because of that thime restraint, there should be a 4 to 5 minute limit place on the match with 20 to 30 second monster rush at the end. the player(s) tahst survive will get 2 kromo coins with the player that has teh highest monster count kill get the 1000 crown award.

7. a way to prevent players to group together to survive in pvp disabeled maps is to make the map have little space to stay still wit continuous traps activating in hal part of the room then switching to the other side where the players are located. so they will have to be in constant motion.

8. another thing that should be considered is the lag taht could be generated due to monster concentration, so i sugest a lower graphic option specifically for this arena battle.

9. i also sugest some area affect switches the players playing in the arena have to be constantly hiting as a way to block turrets and turn of traps for a small amount of time. also i sugest adding turrets taht could the player while fighting the monsters. the turret can be activated for 5 energy. the turrets only target monsters even on pvp enabled matches. besides turrets, there will be more improved mechaknights that can be enabled and maybe the devs might create more things that the players could use to help them prepare befoe the battle starts. this could serve as a ce sink. the players will have 10 to 30 seconds to prepare before the 4 to 5 minute matc start either on pvp enabled or disabeled.

10. fire pots and other carried items are also available for free of course, and during the time taht players can bribe king kromo, they can also go to the vendor to buy vials and remedys according to the tier. they cannot buy health pills. i forgot to mention, monsters during the match d not drop any health hearts.

11. a way to make this even more intresting is to have stadium where monsters are watching the players fight. when ever a player dies, the king kromo sitting on his king size chair will laugh and do an animation like you fail. to the winning player the king would just say lucky winner, won't happen next time. something like that.

12. well ill stop here. a way for players to have a tornament side to this where the winning player choses to accept the prize and start another match or compete with other wining players to until the prize amount reaches 5 thousand crowns. that would be 5 matchs the player has to continuously keep winning, each winning match gives him/her 1 thousand crowns. the kromo coins cannot be stacked up so everytime he wins he will be awarded 2 krmo coins. if he/she loses one match, he/she will lose half of their winning crowns, and have to restart another match to get the ability again to continue fighting other wining players who has chosen the same option. if no winning player choose this option, that winning player will get matched with new players to the match as that winning player tries to stack the crowns. every new match that player goes using that option to continue will be free of charge and not cost him 500 crowns to enter.

I still have suggestions

My suggestion is that the monsters and the level interface should descend in depth so weapons will become stronger slowly and suddenly start to become worse (3* starts to lose damage points at depth 18 I think)

i like the idea.

the depth will progress down as the time passes increasing the difficulty over time for players to stay alive. so not only do players have to worry about swarm of monsters, traps, maybe other player attacks, but they also have to worry about the the depth there in which would increase the damage the monster inflict at each depth.

the depth should never cross into another tier. example tier 2 depth stops advancing at 18, never goes into 19.
