I'm a 3* gunner
im thinking of going into one of the antigua lines( i haven't decide which)
Also, i'm thinking of getting either catalyzer and pulsar which is better for my playing style?
i prefer dps and aoe and likes running around in a circle shooting
help with my gear
Atacii gives good advice, but here is the reason for the order of guns choice he gives :
- alchemers are, simply put, the best, especially if you use the alchemer switching technique (even if you don't, they still are) : they have one of the best dps, apart from Autogun Lines, fast bullets, and don't disrupt mob placement. Also, both the charge and normal shots are useful, which is very rare for guns.
- Antigua lines are best used as side-arms for swordsmen who don't want to bother learning to use Alchemers or just want an easy gun. They have way less damage than alchemers, the main reason why a gunner shouldn't be using them.
- Catalyzer dps is probably not that bad, but the slow bullets means it's bound to fail if there is only 1 swordsman pushing mob in the party. Generally speaking, the odds are that you are going to be with 3 swordsman, who are going to kill everything before a single of your bullet hit. In the other hand, the charge is fun if you do a group with several catalyzers.
- Pulsar have the main problem of pushing mobs in every direction, making it very dangerous for your teammates, as well as reducing its own dps. It used to be the side-arm of choice, but Antigua became pure damage instead of split. It's very good to keep mobs at bay if you are solo or with only gunners, but odds are you are going to misuse it, and you will be hated for that, and perhaps kicked in some instances.
- Callahan is a good safe piercing gun that you can use to deal with fiends and beasts in a safer way than Blitz. On the other hand, Blitz is so OP it would be a shame to not profit of it. It roots you in place, sure, but for that you gain an obscene charge.
so u are saying that i should drop my antigua and get something else??
If you don't like alchemers [...] don't be a gunner
Pretty much.
If you don't like alchemers, don't hold any hopes of being a full time gunner. They're just the best form of regular dps, status spread, crowd control and general usefulness a gunner can achieve in CWs without just resorting to biltzcharge spamming.
Catas are hipster, polaris' piss people off and don't achieve anything (useful) that alchs can't, antiguas are mainly a swordy sidearm and don't nearly match alch dps output and the autoguns are charge-reliant.
Well, alchemer in fact is very effective and easy to use, pure damage and with cancel/switching tech, it's very reliable.
But, for the antigua lines, or pulsar, the main reason I choose (even as gunner or hybrid) is personal interest.
Yes I've seen many saying what you should do to make the most out of your gear, but considering the fun, I think you don't have to hold back some crowns to build your own favorite guns.
Right now I'm using Faust and Silver Six. But when I'm done wit 5*, I'm going back and build every other lines of guns and stuffs, for fun.
A common question.
You want weapons for each damage type.
For elemental and shadow use alchemers. If you don't like alchemers, use antiguas. It you don't like either, use catalyzers or pulsars...or better yet, don't be a gunner.
For piercing, Blitz is the obvious choice. Callahan used to be good, then the game changed. Now dps is almost all that matters.
Your first defensive set should be Shadowsun. For shields I would suggest Swifstrike, Owlite, Skelly, and Jelly( or BTS I suppose >.>), crafted in that order.
