Elemental and Shadow Lines for the DBB

I’ve noticed that I rarely see any bombers in the clockworks or in lockdown and few, if any, of them are damage bombers. I myself was a bomber for two years before ditching everything but my mist bombs and turning to swords and guns. I believe the reason for this drop in demolition experts is due to the recent RSS nerfing.

Whether or not you think the RSS was overpowered, it filled a major deficiency in the bombers arsenal. It served as my distance weapon and was my answer for elementally weak enemies and fiends. After the nerf though, I found that I was drastically underpowered against undeads, constructs, and jellies. In fact, the new shard bombs can’t even keep up with nitronomes. As a damage bomber, the only enemies I could still handle as effectively as swordsmen and gunners were gremlins, beasts, and fiends thanks to the DBB.

In my eyes the DBB is now the bomber’s best damage bomb. It shreds beasts, renders gremlins helpless, and makes short work of fiends. It’s only drawback now though, is that it has no yin to its yang. With the loss of the RSS, there is currently no elemental bomb that is as effective, easy to use, and deadly as the DBB. My proposal therefore, is to create a bomb that is.

I propose that an elemental, and even a shadow line, alternative to the DBB be created or that the new shard bombs be given the same mechanics as the DBB. Either of these ideas would instantly fill the void in the bomber’s loadout and possibly bring back the nearly extinct damage bomber. I realize that this won’t replace our distance bomb, but I really don’t mind having a gun as a sidearm and used my polaris for distance fights far more than my RSS.

Please leave a comment and/or support. The way I see it, this completely fixes the problem.

Bombers really do need some decent Shadow & Elemental Bombs

Not sure about the Elemental version*, but here's an idea for a Shadow DBB themed on Rabid Snarby:

(Vicious?) Toxic Thornado
8 bars of Shadow Damage
Good chance of strong Poison

Looks similar to the DBB, but has Green where the DBB has Red. The explosion consists of a Green Snarby 'hologram' doing a 360-degree tailwhip, in addition the thorns now circle around the blast area (like a tornado) instead of just exploding outwards. It is otherwise identical to the DBB

This bomb would branch off from the Spike Shower as an alternate line to the DBB

(*I think making the Deconstructor bombs do Elemental damage would fit better for that)

EDIT:
As for why you don't see many Bombers? Let me put it this way:
Nitro/DBB Damage with Max Damage Bonus: around 300 per enemy in the AoE
Brandish/Acheron Damage with No Damage Bonuses: around 530 (+Status Effect) per enemy in the AoE

Oooohhhh, Toxic Thornado

Oooohhhh, Toxic Thornado sounds epic, I would use it in a heartbeat.

It's like a Rabid Snarbolax version of the Bomb. If the Snarbolax armour wasn't already a sanctuary crafting thing I would suggest a whole Rabid Snarbolax set (Bomb, Sword, Shield, Cap and Coat) based on poison defence.

The reason I'm suggesting an elemental version of the DBB is because there are currently no bombs in that class that deal damage to constructs and undeads the way a DBB deals with wolvers, fiends, and gremlins. It's akin to having a flourish but not a a brandish.

An elemental version is more essential than a shadow one since jellies would be taken care of by the elemental one and the DBB does an excellent job at dispatching gremlins. Despite this however, I'm not apposed to having a shadow version as well.

@Verodius:

That is my point. The Nitro and DBB deal the damage of one swing from there respective sword counterparts. An elemental or shadow version of the DBB would deal the damage of one brandish swing to everything in it AoE, but that's not really even the true power of these bombs. A DBB in a wolver den is one of the most powerful weapons you can possess because it deals the equivalent of one BTB swing to everything it hits. Any beast caught in its path is also knocked to the ground or caused to flinch and by the time they get up, a second one will have just detonated. It's a different style from firing BTB charges, but it can take out mobs just as quick because the standard bomber has max CTR.

Elemental DBB would be bleh. I'd rather see an elemental DR. It does much more damage to large, slow targets which is perfect for constructs and undead.

When people talk about our

When people talk about our lack of an Elemental weapon I wonder how often they use DR. It tears Constructs apart to such an extent that even if there was an Elemental DBB, DR would probably still outclass it. That being said for the benfit for F2P players not intent on using Shards, I'd like to the Heavy Deconstructor made into a split Normal/Elemental Nitronome with a Construct Damage Bonus; balances the HD to actually be useful and also fills the Elemental gap.

As for Shadow, between the two Shard lines, Vortex & DR we really don't need one, especially considering on top of all those DBB & the other Blast Bombs decimate Gremlins anyway.

Non-related elemental bomb

I want a bomb called Hail Of Fire. This is how it work 1.put the bomb 2.on the egde of the bomb radius there will be 8 ice-stone(like the ice when there is hailstorm but kind of bigger) covered with fire 3.the the monsters that is 0.25 square near the bomb radius is suck into the center of the bomb(of coarse the monster already inside also been suck to the center to get the maximum damage) 4.then the stone explode and make the monsters on moderate fire for 15seconds 5.after the monsters stop burning and don't die,they will be frozen in place 6.and if they are frozen in place they will get the last small explosion and the monsters near it get some damage(but don't get the effect of the one that is suck in).
Not really related but it is elemental
But ya......you can edit it if you want

@Zeddy

An Elemental version of the DR would be a nice addition, but I never spent money on the DR and I definitely don't intend to pay for an elemental version of said bomb.

@Echoez

Like I said, I never had a DR and probably won't have one till OOO makes the expansion available to F2P'ers as well. And even though I never had a DR, I also disagree that a DR would outclass an elemental DBB. If anything, they would be equals; especially if the elemental DBB had the same effects on its targeted enemies that the DBB has on its.

The RSS's revamp left too big of a hole in the bomber's arsenal. If it were me, I would've simply changed the shard bomb's mechanics to the DBB's if I had to change them at all.

I used Nitronome for the first time in a few months a couple days ago to refresh my memory of its obnoxious animation weighted against how the bomb fairs in combat. If the animation was toned down, take out the shaky screen and tone down the blue flash, it would be great.

Element damage versions of the Seerus bombs would also be nice but should be available as normally crafted weapons as opposed to expansion exclusive. Maybe have the orbs spin in the opposite direction of the shadow versions to make it at least a little different. Maybe a new boss token weapon from a new construct boss like a giant Lumber or something. Robots. Beep boop.

To those who care, not that I expect this to matter to any of you, I have been watching from the back row for the past few days around here because I have been doing stuff on Wakfu. Whenever they get a big update I disappear for a couple days or so. There are also other things. Bottom line, I may not be posting, but I am still here. Watching you. While you sleep. You need to see someone about that snoring. I appreciate other foorimers are back. This place needs more voices than some smelly old box.

@Bulby, This wouldn't fix the problem. This would just be a lazy reskin. You mentioned LD? You think Elemental and Shadow DBBs will change LD? Keep dreaming.

@Luguiru, I'm not advocating this, but if the obnoxious explosion textures in the games files were to mysteriously turn into completely transparent textures, screen flash would no longer be a problem.

I think that even with reversed orb directions, that bomb would be too similar to the DR. Perhaps give it 3 orbs (like the Dark Reprisal mkII) but have them orbit faster?
