Damage bonuses vs monsters are useful in PVE, but they have no use in PVP, since knights don't classify as monsters. An idea I have to utilize these bonuses in PVP is to make them effective against knights who wear armor based on that type of monster. I've come up with a list of what armor types would have a disadvantage against damage bonuses. Since there isn't armor that is based on construct or fiends, I haven't listed them.
Damage bonus vs slimes -> jelly and quicksilver armor
Damage bonus vs beasts -> wolver and chroma armor
Damage bonus vs gremlin -> magic, demo, and seerus armor
Damage bonus vs undead -> skelly armor
Monster-specific damage bonuses in PVP
Damage bonus vs construct -> Plate mail
Damage bonus vs fiend -> Angelic (I know they're not fiends, but they're angels, so it's similar species of creature)
I'm concerned about how it gets calculated. What if I'm not wearing a full 'monster' set?
Is it the same If I have full wolver or just a coat agaisnt beasts UVs?
What if I have jelly helm and skelly suit? Will I be super extra weak to slime+undead UVs?
I've actually had this sort of idea in my head a few days back. Different armor sets could be labelled as a specific family type based on the materials used in making them. Chroma Drake and Wolver sets being Beast, Demo and Seerus being Gremlin, Azure and Plate being Construct, and so on and so forth.
Just to make those 'useless Family UVs' a little more helpful outside of PVE. It'd make said UVs more sought after, for sure!
The bonus itself would be applied only IF you're wearing one piece of the armor. If you have an Undead/Slime bonus against a Skelly Jelly opponent, then both bonuses would apply only to their appropriate armor. The end result being equal to hitting someone with full Skelly with your Undead bonus UV.
okay then, since you say they have no use in pvp, then there shall not be damage bonuses on armor...
Here are the current bonuses :
Skolver -- Piercing defense, damage bonus on swords
Snarbolax -- Shadow defense, damage bonus on swords
Vog Cub -- Elemental defense, speed increase on swords
Deadshot shadow, damage vs undead increase and attack speed increase
Justifier -- piecing, speed increase on guns
Shadowsun -- shadow, damage increase on guns
Nameless -- elemental, speed increase on guns
Technically, speed increase means you can deal more damage per second
Demo sets, all have bonuses on bombs...
Who needs damage bonus on specific monster type when you can have it on all :D
