This question is asked pretty frequently. The answer depends on how much time you have to play Spiral Knights. If you have a lot of time, so that you find yourself wishing every day that you could play more (but you run out of ME), then an elevator pass is tempting. But then you have to save up a bunch of crowns, to craft stuff.
Consider this plan: Buy the cheapest thing you can (which at present may be an elevator pass). Then, your account is marked as "paid". You can then start another account on the same computer, that will have its own ME stream. Now you're getting 200 ME per day. If you like, spend a little money on that account. Then you can start yet another account on the same computer, that will have its own ME stream, and you're getting 300 ME per day. I don't know about you, but that's way more playing time than I need. (If not, then get a fourth account...)
The basic rule is: You can have one free ME stream on your computer, and as many "paid" ME streams as you like. This may sound as if it's against some rule, but Three Rings has given the idea its blessing, and many players do it.
Why is this in Arsenal? It has nothing to do with equipment.

For the record, you still have to create a new account. The three different names you get on one "file" will ALWAYS share mist no matter what.

Thanks for clarifying, Batabii. Yes, I am talking about a new account (user name), not a new knight on the same account.
And let me make an addendum to what I posted above. I actually recommend that you get the cheapest CE package (not elevator pass) on each account. After all, once you have all of these ME streams, you're not really going to need an elevator pass for playing a lot, but you'll still need CE for crafting.

Do what you want, but I can't personally imagine anyone would devote so much effort to this game that they'd play two full accounts and not waste mist. It takes me like 3 hours a day alone to burn off the 100 mist I get, and after that I dont really feel like playing more.
if you like running levels with your energy then get an Epass. if you wanna craft a lot of things, try to roll good UVs, get shadow lair gear or just improve your wealth in general then go with CE. if you prefer to spend as little as possible while making as much money as possible AND are willing to sit thru hour after hour of FSC, then go with the Epass.
