do i need to use the trinket slot upgrade to equip modules such as the slash module? or is it part of a different equipment category cause i saw a glove like picture on the bottom of my equipment menu

they're under Trinkets
These modules appear under the "Trinkets" heading in your Arsenal, right? So they're trinkets. I agree that the name "module" is confusing, though.
The wiki page "Trinket" can help you learn how to use trinkets.
Yeah, they're trinkets so you need the upgrade to be able to equip them.
