Most people believe it's so everyone knows what kind of defense you have.

What he said. Also, why is it that sometimes people have purple as their color? D:

The purple thing is a local bug. Sometimes you see it but not the others. (or people are lying to me)

It's so people won't expect you to have shock resistance when you're wearing Skolver, but then you totally do so there's really no point at all.

Ehhh, it had more of a point

Ehhh, it had more of a point before they introduced Punch, but it still has a point. For example, all it takes is a glance to see if shiverlocking their whole team is possible. Introduce costumes and bombs like shivver would become utterly useless as you'd have no idea how many skolvers there actually were between players with skolver hiding it, and players without skolver using it as a costume (honestly; i'd just wear skolver as a bomber and carry around a GF, just so no one comes near me long enough for me to whip out the bomb and charge)

Anyhoo, @topic:

This should honestly be pretty obvious with anyone with two brain cells to rub together. the first time I ever played LD I went in and realised my costume had vanished and within as many seconds the lightbulb clicked on as I realised why it was a good idea. There have also been loads of threads about this since as well as at least one person tryin' to come up with comprimises (other than the obvious: make your LD armour accessroised and costumey) so you really have no excuse for just asking why there aren't costumes allowed when it's that obvious and logical.

Honestly, it's not even as if UVd made it pointless; just more awkward and slightly less reliable, but still whole countries away from "Pointless"..
